Is it true you can buy small quanities of pot in Amsterdam in coffee shops?

> Technically, you are allowed to carry 5 grams for 'personal use' - but as one user stated, you could visit multiple shops and get more.

Well, I was there last summer, and they offered a "weekend pack" in one coffee shop. Nice move to underrun government laws, I must say! They just said, it was a package suitable for a weekend from Friday to Monday (that is, four days), so that made up for 40 grams, and a package for today's use, which was another five. So that goes for an ounce.

But of course you can buy much, much more. Never judge a book by its cover, and never trust what's written on the label.

> do not cause trouble

Yes, that's true. In Amsterdam, they're very much on the watch to keep up public order. Nobody will arrest you (except for friendly purposes) when you just lay around on a bench, completely stoned. But if you're causing trouble, police can be very harsh and unforgiving. -- In the Netherlands, pot and cops look the same: Harmless, but once you meet them, it may be a life experience. I swear.

You can buy anything in Amsterdam.................anything.........

hippiechickie
yeah, you sure can. You can buy as much as you want in small quantities. Smoke it there in the shop, ask for a house "water pipe", or roll your own "j", cut it with a bit of tobacco if you want to be more like the locals, or take it back to your hotel and have fun in privacy!! My boyfriend and I were in homegrown fantasy (the best coffee shop there!!) and there were police officers right outside. My first instinct was to hide! But I knew better, and all was well. Quite funny and freeing to be honest!! Its actually not totally legal there, they just dont enforce the law. I read recently that they are banning ciggy smoking starting next June. But, we shall see if this alters the way things are done over there. MOST importantly... Amsterdam has FAR more to offer than its bud. Its a beautiful city, with great friendly people, and a way of life and living for which I long to be a part of.

Forget small quantities mate, ye can buy at most a half ounce of any brand [as they call it]. Honestly you could walk out of one shop with a few ounces and straight into another and do the same, some "coffee shops" are better than others and some are more like bars or miniature nite clubs!

If yer ever going i recommend The Smoking Bull its a chain of shops with the best gear money can buy.

Just remember to smoke it before you leave though bringing it home does carry some hefty smuggling charges.

Yes, it is true. Thank God.

KayKay
yes but they aren't called coffee shops....read it on msn news the other day...go check it out

Eleanor
yes....
You can, may do so. Buy legally from legal shops with licenses or you might get unlucky (which is not usual) to get caught. Also if you are coming back home across the border which strictly no drugs allowed, you may considering taking a few days off from smoking weeds & doing drugs because certain customs in certain countries may randomly check your urine samples!

renosgirl2006
It use to be true. I had friends in the army that told me that it's legal there.

U_S_S_Enterprise
Yes, you can.

In coffeeshops all over the city you can get a variety of "tastes". Also hash, spacecake and other "things" are available.

Just as a warning - do never, ever buy whatever off someone on the street. Chances are you will get ripped off, or worse.

Technically, you are allowed to carry 5 grams for 'personal use' - but as one user stated, you could visit multiple shops and get more.

Just be sure and do not cause trouble, for while they tolerate weed etc., they can charge you with posession if you get arrested for something else.

Ahhh yeah... Amsterdam is one of those places you can do and get anything you want, Legally!!!

Nanny85
Yes it is true. You can buy special brownies and mushrooms too. It is legal over there. If you walk through Amsterdam you'll find people on the street who try to sell you some other stuff also. Don't buy from them though.

YES.... it's been true for years.. you can also buy Hashish right on the street. The shops that sell Pot are even licensed by the Government.
