Greece is sensational! My advise would be to go in their summer (June-Sept).

You'll get a bit of everything in Greece. Great food, weather, historic sites, beaches, parties, and great atmosphere. So many places to explore. Some sensational looking people too.

I think you could go spend about 4 months Greek island hopping as well as checking the mainland sites and not get bored.

ps I am not Greek - I'm Australian.

?
Yes,
Greece is one of the places, that a human must visit, at least once, in his lifetime.
It is an amazing place, totally different that you can imagine. The landscape is breathtaking and the people are very kind and helpful.
The country has a great history and many times you can visit very ancient places.
Modern Greece is amazing too. Citizens never sleep and during summer clubs, restaurants, bars even beaches stay open all night long.

Depends what part of Greece you go to.

I always visit the Greek Isles ( Zante, Kos, Corfu ).

The Greeks are so friendly, helpful and laid back.
The food is great, weather is stunning, lots of sites worth seeing

You will never have a bad time in Greece

mentzel63
of course it is. the thousands of tourists every year confirm that! you will see the most beautiful beaches in the world, visit endless museums and see monuments beyond imagination. you ll meet great people who are always willing to help you out, the food is amazing, the weather hot..what else do you need?

shorty
Depends which part of Greece you would like to go to. I know some family members who went there and they enjoyed it because of the good weather, nice food, and beaches. There are also many ancient sites to see. I would definitely go if I were you.

Is it worth it to see where modern civilization began? Where democracy began? Where some of the greatest philosophers of all time were born and lived? Where many of the words of the English language came from? Where some of the greatest mathematical theories were first discovered? Where there are pieces of ancient history that have colored the history and culture of the entire world?

And, is it worth it to see some of the most beautiful beaches in the world? Eat some of the best food you will ever eat? Hear music that is unique and full of life? Meet many people that want only to "smell the roses" and have fun?

I think you can answer your own question now.

Oh yea! great time

Absolutely! Best to go in June or September. July and August are VERY, VERY hot, and there are tons of tourists. June and September generally have beautiful weather, and there aren't so many tourists. Definitely spend a little time in Athens, but also plan to visit a few islands. If this is your first visit, I would recommend the Cyclades.
