Turkish Laws allows only one wife.
Religeous Laws allows upto 4 wives.

Ipek K Reloaded
It is not acceptable. The maximum number of legally married wives is 1.

People can have affairs, though but the women whom one has affairs with aren't considered as "wives".

sobeit
No,
not acceptable.Turkey is a sacular state.meaning unlike iran the koran "law" does not rule.one wife "only".but you never know what people do in the small rural areas.in some instances it is tradition to formally marry your sister in law to take care of her after one's brother dies.i.e. the marriage is not consummated..very old tradition followed mostly by very traditional rural areas uneducated citizens..(no offense intented)

Gul V
The number of wives a turkish man is allowed in the law of the country is only one.

However there is an old tradition in the religion that allows a man up to 4 wives (providing he can provide and look after them). This however is not classed as spouse through the laws (only in religion).

They try to look European that's why they are going to tell you that they only have one wife. But in the deep Asia, not in their big cities, there are men who have more than one wives.
