You bet it is....Please look up the map....it used to be part of the Soviet Union, otherwise called U.S.S.R and now an independent country, still retaining most of the riches of the Union, except communism...

That question reminds me of my first day in International Law class, but the question was about Japan. ^_^

The answer is the state or country, as specified in international law should possess the following qualifications: (a) a permanent population; (b) a defined territory; (c) government; and (d) capacity to enter into relations with the other statesl (e) Defensive and offensive armed forces.

So Russia is a country and if you want to know, under international law Japan isn't a full-fledged country yet.

Firstly, when you ask a question like this, you really show the level of your education.
Secondly, Russia is a part of Siberia in the same way as the US is a part of Texas. Smiley.
It's amazing how sometimes people judge another countries from what they are told on TV. I'll tell you this. I've been to several countries and basically the difference is not crucial.
Russia IS a country and not a bad one. Try to visit St. Petersburg some time and you'll get absolutely astonished.

before communists of 1917 Russia was from Worsaw to Alaska....so soon with out Alaska,so after it Russia have just like polakian colony and Finland which get capitol which was built by russians and government institute of power,so other lands was like one country of Russia with out republics and etc.....communists separate Russia on republics of 10 after WW2 16 they return Litiania,Latvia,Estonia,built new republic of Moldova by Stalin,he took east of Romenia and west of Ukraine,thats why now Moldova separated by civil war on ukrainian Prednestrovie and Moldova(Besarabia)..so and Stalin took some few republics in Middle Asia....so thanx to communists that they separated Russia on republics...........i hate them,they destroy my motherland.....so Mongolia in USSR time was like 17 republic of USSR but with out soviet state and power....
