technicaly its Asia but as well can be debated on being in eastern europe
link included below
European Russia is not a separate country, but rather the far western end of the Russian Federation. Most modern atlases and geography experts consider this landmass politically and geographically part of the continent of Europe. The Russian Federation's established dividing line between Asia and Europe are the Ural Mountains
It is not a separate country, but rather called European Russia because of its political and cultural blending with European countries and peoples.
St. Petersburg and Moscow, (the capital) are located in European Russia. Regardless, the entire country is (geographically) still considered a part of Asia.
The Russian Federation - spread over all climate zones (except tropical) - is the world's largest country, with land that stretches halfway around the planet.
In fact, by airplane from Moscow, it takes over 8 hours to reach Vladivostok on its far eastern coast.
Moscow is the country's major economic and political center; it's the seat of the President, the government and the State Duma.
this link will give you a better understanding how it is divided their is a map

One part (the western part) is in Europe and the other part (eastern side) is in Asia. The Ural Mountains keep those two parts seperate...so you'll never go wrong! |

Russia
A vast nation that stretches from eastern Europe across the Eurasian land mass. It was the most powerful republic of the former Soviet Union; ethnic Russians composed about half of the population. It is the world's largest country. Its capital and largest city is Moscow.
# Russia was ruled by czars of the Romanov family from the seventeenth to the twentieth centuries.
# Peter the Great, a czar who reigned in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, attempted to westernize Russian government and culture.
# During the Russian Revolution of 1917, the Bolsheviks, under Lenin, took control of the government; communists governed from 1917 until 1991.
# Russia now occupies the seat on the Security Council of the United Nations formerly held by the Soviet Union. |

No, Asia. Geographically, Europe, including the British Isles, is a large western peninsula of the continent of Asia; and many geographers, when referring to Europe and Asia, speak of the Eurasian continent. But traditionally, Europe is counted as a separate continent, with the Ural and the Caucasus mountains forming the line of demarcation between Europe and Asia. |
