It is safe to drink since it is treated with necessary purifying and sterilizing additives and chemicals like but I would recommend you to drink bottled water if you don't want to have a bad experience during your holidays.

Yes it's safe to drink but I would suggest you to buy a bottled one as it's safer and tastier.

15-20 years ago drinking tap water in istanbul could guarantee you some diseases and it was strictly not recommended however a few years ago the municipality announced that the tap water in istanbul is of premium quality after all these infrastracture improvements, they even claimed that it is cleaner than bottled drinking water...However many buildings in istanbul have watertanks and even though the water which comes till your building is clean it can get polluted in that watertank.Drinking tap water in Istanbul is not common since bottled drinking water is very cheap(19 liters->3 euros).Personally I believe that it is safe but since I'm not used to it I never drink it from the tap not only in Istanbul but nowhere in the world.

Qu'est ce que tu pense?
Yep. Just as long as you don't leave Istanbul and go to other cities that don't have good treatment of water. For example, mountain villages or some smaller cities. They tend to be more of a lucky raffle. One time you drink the water you're fine, but next time you'll regret drinking the tap water. But I have to say that Istanbul is safe. Drank the tap there and didn't have any complications.

would you get sick if you drank a glass; no
would you get queasy if you drank 5 glasses; yes

drink bottled water

In Istanbul the water has been treated. You can have ice in your drinks, but bottled water is everywhere and you should drink that it is better than drinking treated city water.

When i was in turkey i drank the water and it made me quite ill, its safe but my body didn't agree with it

Most people in Istanbul don't drink tap water themselves. Bottled water is extremely cheap and available everywhere so use that instead. However the water is perfectly fine for washing and cooking.

Hi yeah it is safe to drink the water. the only thing you have to watch is the mineral content may differ and you may not be tolerant of it. Prepare for all eventualities, take some Imodium or pepto bismol with you.

I drank it and was fine, my daughter drank it and was on the loo for the day.
