Yea, mostly the fact that people still think it exists.

Yugoslavia was a great country.

We could travel anywhere around the world with our passport, our country having friendly relationships with just about everyone.

Our military forces were fifth in the world around the beginning of the 80ies.

We were great in sport competitions, specially team sports.

Our country was a great mixture of ethnic and religious differences. Everyone had equal rights.

It was a beautiful country, with plenty diversities. We were on the doorway of EU.

If only it was meant to be that way...

Yugoslavia still exists :D (The past, the present and the future is ONE.)

The countries that used to be part of Yugoslavia are all very nice to visit, each one has something unique depending on what you are interested in.
Croatia has a lovely Mediterranean coastline with over 1000 islands and tons of beaches, old walled cities, and crystal clear water. The capital is Zagreb, I lived there for two years and it's definitely my favorite place I've lived in. It's quite small so really has the nice feeling of a small town, lots of parks and pedestrian streets, and beautiful Viennese architecture.
Slovenia has really got a nice landscape. The Julian Alps are there so there are lots of mountains- great for outdoorsy people. Ljubljana is a cute city too, good arts and music scene.
I've only been to the north of Serbia and to Belgrade but I really enjoyed it both times I was there. Being from Croatia I heard mixed feelings from people about Serbia, but not being one to take such opinions from others I decided to visit for myself and really loved it. Belgrade has awesome nightlife! Also very friendly people... it's the kind of city you will love or hate. Not pretty at first but after you get used to it you will find it's very cool hidden gems.
Visiting Bosnia is amazing- Sarajevo is the most unique city in Europe, people call it Jerusalem in Europe. The food is excellent as well, try cevapi and the burek it's the best I've ever had. Mostar is famous for Stari Most, the beautiful foot bridge that was destroyed during the war and then rebuilt. It's a really picturesque city.
Montenegro also has a beautiful coastline similar to Croatia's, but some really unique towns, for example Budva and Sveti Stefan.
Never been to Macedonia... I've heard Lake Ohrid is lovely and plan to go next year.
Keep in mind there was a war in the 1990's that involved many of these countries. Lots of people still have very strong feelings about the situation so be careful... If you are curious most people don't mind to talk about it, but be sensitive in your approach. Try to read up about what happened so you will have an unbiased approach.
It's really a lovely area, definitely worth it to visit!

Um....it's not called Yugoslavia any more.
I've travelled most of "former" Yugoslavia - except Slovenia, and it is all cool. Great food, very cheap, amazing scenery, very "different" things to see - it depends where you've travelled to I guess. Some parts are less geared for tourism than others, Croatia for example is starting to get very busy as more and more people realise how stunning it is there....while Montengro is just at the beginning of that phase and isn't as well set up infrastructure wise for travellers - still awesome though. I'd recommend all of it, as well as Kosovo, which isn't technically a republic yet - but should be - it was so interesting there, I met loads of soldiers and visited the United Nations and learned a lot about how the people there have been living. Coming from a peaceful country myself, I found it very interesting.
The things that I thought were cool were the bridge in Mostar (in Bosnia) - , Sarajevo, Plitvilic Lakes in Croatia, (actually, EVERYTHING in Croatia) - Kotor, Dubrovnik, Belgrade...it's all great you should go.
Oh and I nearly forgot to mention that I found the people there very friendly and welcoming - in all the countries.
