Sure, just walk or drive or take a train across the border--just as long as it's not the Swiss border because Switzerland is not part of the Schengen Agreement Border zone, and as such, you'd have to show passport.

It depends from where you want to travel...people who are in a Schengen country don't need a passport to travel to all the other Schengen countries. There are also no border controls anymore...it's just a problem when you live outside!;-)

if you have a European Identity card- then maybe you can- I have travelled from Italy to the UK on an ID card- customs don't like it but had no reason to turn me away- it may have changed since then though and as we in the UK don't have an ID card (thank goodness) you might it find it a bit hard!

You need a passport to travel from Britain to France.

Getting back however, is much easier. Loads of people come from France with no passport!

If you go by ferry then your driving liscence is fine but you will have to fill in a form at the police station when you get there. had to do it myself as i was off to russia the same month and passport was in the embassy but had also to go to Holland.

Barry K
If you travel by Ferry or by plane, then you would need to show a passport. However if you take the Eurostar then maybe you wouldn't.

I would add that this is just a guess though. So you had better have one with you.

Kelly
Photo ID should be enough. We are both part of the EU
