Is this considered to be rude in the Turkish culture?

We've just made friends with this Turkish couple... and one day they asked us out for dinner... they got there 30 minutes early... but didn't wait for us and ordered their food... by the time we got there... they were almost done...

In my culture this is equal to an insult...

So I was just wondering... if its the same with you guys or not...

tnx...

Yes, rude and highly unusual, as Turks are never rude to guests. But what can you do about it?

No, that's not part of Turkish culture at all. Hopefully they had a good reason to do so though. Maybe they had something come up at last minute that they had to hurry...idk, you'll just have to ask them, but in my opinion they were clearly being rude.

Yes, it is considered very rude in our culture . We wait for the other family members to come home and to sit at the table in order to start dinner, let alone guests.

I think you are unfortunate to meet two rude people or they have a very serious excuse to start a dinner without waiting the guests i.e. having to take some medication after a meal etc.

Nevertheless, they should at least tell their excuse.

yes, normally it is rude if they dont have a real excuse...

Very probably those people following some unsuccessful attempts for socializing with fellow Turks, had to try their luck with foreigners.

That kind of a behavior would definitely raise an eyebrow in Turkey.

Although I wouldn't go as far as saying its an insult, its highly impolite.

Sometimes cultural differences, create a wrong impression of being mistreated. This case is not one of them. As a Turk, I would not continue to socialize with that couple.

Yes, it's considered rude in Turkish culture too. Maybe that couple was just too hungry and forgot about etiquette lol.

wow ! Maybe they were just TOO Hungry to wait

Maybe that's what EU was scared of .

One of them once told me "Molana" belongs to our literature not persians' ( Molana was a persian poet n all his poets are in persian but they call him a turkish poet just because his tomb is in turkey ) . isn't it another insult to persians ? I'm not saying All of them are like this , but I haven't seen anything more.

I know this's not an answer but It was necessary.

No their behavior was not normal Turks are very good about entertaining. They normally would wait for you however when a group of people are at a restaurant and the food is served the will eat immediately and not wait for all people to have a plate in front of them. But they normally would not order until everyone was there,

Turkish people are usually rude and it may be because its always so hot in Turkey so they get frustrated easily because of the heat but i'm not making excuses for them, theres no excuse to be rude. If the heat is making you rude then bring a portable fan with you so you can cool down and be less rude
