Israel acting aggresively to Greek aid ships to Gaza, what do you think about this?

The Israeli ships forced the Greek Arion ship to turn back. It was sending humanitarian aid to Gaza, after the Israeli military killed 1,076 people and injured thousands in Gaza.

This attitude is infamous and shameful, of course...

Not only they refused this Greek aid vessel to get access to Gaza, they also targeted a UN humanitarian truck convoy and killed a UN employee (truck-driver). And they even bombarded a UN building in Gaza...Ban-Ki-Moon was truely shocked...
After all, Israel doesn't care what UNO can think, since USA will use their veto anytime for preventing any sanctions.
Israelis picked the Christmas times for their attack, because they knew people would be "busy" celebrating, and they also find it very strategic to launch the attack at the transition period of US presidency ( Bush doesn't do anything because he leaves the White House, and Obama can't do anything because he's not yet at his Ovale Office)...
This is a coward and unfair method...Even terrorism can't justify such a disproportionate attack, that killed so many civilians...Not to mention that Palestinians can't escape...And if they escape, anyway Israel still refuses refugees to come back...

Any honest person in the World can understand that this is a genocide...

I'm a friend of BOTH Israelis and Palestinians, and I will still support the victims; and those victims are Palestinians, not Israelis...

==============================...

EDIT:

Dear Mrs Barış Awareness,

Despite of a name mispelling, I assume that your first paragraph was probably written to my attention...I feel honored for your interest to my own post, and I thank you for this interesting message, Mrs Barış Awareness...

Nevertheless, with all due respect, I have to admit that I haven't exactly understood the meaning of your text...The particularly argotic writing-style of yours might be the reason, or maybe is it simply because of my weak command in this language ( as you may have probably guessed, I am not a native speaker...Actually english is only my fourth language,unfortunately...)

Concerning the tragic drama that is actually occuring in the Middle-East, I am simply expressing my deep sadness and my real exasperation,as any human being, regarding this terrible tragedy that led to one thousand casualties among the innocent population of Gazza...
Indeed, I also feel sorrow, disappointment and even anger, as I realize how unfair and how cruel is the Israeli policy towards the Palestinian people...
As everyone, I condemn the rockets attacks,of course, and I consider the terrorists activities as unforgivable crimes...But everyone, around the world, and regardless of our ethnic or religious backround, can easily understand that the actual criminal protagonist is the Israeli side...

We don't judge the Israeli people, we simply disagree and don't accept the exactions perpetrated by this Israeli government...Because the numbers and the facts make it so easy to distinguish the victim from the guilty...More than one thousand dead people on the Palestinian side ( the half are civilians, and hundreds of children,elderly,women...), while IDF only lost 10 soldiers and 3 civilians..

Mrs Barış Awareness, if you have read the newspapers recently, you are certainly aware about the fact that the Gazza strip has become an "open-air jail", which is controlled by the Israeli authorities..
We can understand the fear of the Israelis, of course, but we consider their attitude as a "security obsession", and this obsession has led them to act the same way as the Nazis acted during WW2...How sad...

The Gazza Strip blockade reminds us of the Varsaw Ghetto blockade, doesn't it?
And doesn't this situation have also some terrible similarities with the Stalingrad Siege?
People dying because of bombs, fire, starvation, thirst, because they cannot escape, because the occupants block all access to the rescue squads...How sad...

Mrs Barış Awareness, I think you asked about my country's policy as well, regarding this situation, didn't you?...
Well, due to historic reasons, Turkey has obviously great responsabilities, regarding the Israeli-Arab conflict...(as you probably know, the Ottoman Empire ruled this region too, and at that time, Jews and Arabs were living in peace and harmony...)

It seems that you might have misunderstood the attitude of Turkey...Am I mistaken?...
Both Jews and Arabs, or maybe should I say Israelis and Palestinians, are considered as our friends- and even as our brothers- by most of Turkish people...And of course we don't want to hurt anyone' sensitivity, we simply want to help them find a solution to this crisis, and build Peace, at last...
That's the reason why both parties have accepted our country as a mediation force, because we are respected by both nations.
You mentionned a "support for terrorist groups" : No, Turkey simply supports the Palestinian Nation, especially the civilians...
This not really fair to make allegations about "terrorism support", just because of having the same religion.
You also wrote that "Turkey is afraid of Israel", and assumed that Turks are "kissing Israel's azzz" : I appreciate your sense of humor and your sarcasm, but I have to say that this is absolutely not true...
Despite of our differences, we Turks and Jews do have an important common past, as the Ottoman Empire saved the Jews that were forced to leave Spain of Inquisition times, and during WW2 Turkey has been also a refuge and a transit country for thousands of Jews escaping from the Holocaust...

Maybe some people in the region, or in the Caucasius, don't understand this strategic alliance, because of jealousy or other reasons...I don't know...But what other people think is not that important, after all...Alliances are simply a logical aspect of geopolitics, for any country of the Globe

And, to answer another supposition of yours, I have to say that, yes, of course, Turks are very concerned about humanitarian causes...
We applaud the Greek initiative, of course...Greeks and Turks both have great hearts, and they can't remain insensitive when seeing such injustice as those horrible massacres...
If you look back to close history, in 2006 Lebanon attack by Israel, you probably also remember that Turkey and Cyprus hosted thousands of Lebanese refugese, and of course supplied hundreds of tons of food and medics to the victims...And I suppose you probably had the confirmation of this help, since you might know a lot of Armenian-Lebanese citizens that have been rescued too...

No, Barış Awareness, you cannot use the word " hate", regarding Turkey's feelings...That is a misinterpretation...We simply say that time has come for PEACE...

And I thank you for having called me "brother"...That's a very good start, even though I am not even a member of the Turkish Government...I hope that our respective presidents, Mr Gül and Mr Sarkissian will read our conversation and will feel influenced by this friendly mood...

Best regards, Cheers !

Ibrahim, from Paris,France

EDIT :

Thank you for your comment, Vasiliki

======================================...

EDIT to my new sister Mrs Barış Awareness :

Oh, you made me blush like if I was awarded a Litterature Nobel Prize ;)))
You said " your words have been copied and pasted from a hallmark"...
I take this as a compliment, because we both know that such a hallmark doesn't exist ( otherwise you would show it as an evidence), and also this is so easy for me to prove my progress in the english language...Discussing live through MSN or Yahoo Messenger, with instantaneous answers, would be a very good way of demostrating my new wonderful skills in writing in english...And maybe also we could consider chatting with microphone and camera, that would be such a sweet moment, as you finally realized that I was special enough to be called "Brother"...Would you like me to teach you a turkish song, with my beautiful voice? I'm looking forward to hear you singing, my sister...Ok, I would accept such a meeting, with great pleasure, my sister...;))

About my country's policy, well, this is your right to have your own opinion, of course...After all, we both live in democracies and countries where freedom of speech are guaranteed in National Consitutions...
Well, first of all, I didn't vote for Mister Erdogan, you know...( Turkish expatriates cannot vote, at the moment, from abroad)...And actually there are many things in this government, about what I cannot agree...But of course, the Republic of Turkey is the Republic of Turkey, no matter what our current governement says and does...
My personal political appartenance to any party won't change my high and inmense pride of being a citizen of this country...And you probably understand what I mean, since you have the marvellous honour of being married to a man who has the wonderful privilege of owning the Turkish citizenship too...
My country might make diplomatic mistakes, maybe, maybe not, because it is ruled by a very sensitive man, currently...But if you really try to comprehend this complex situation, you will be certainly able to understand that Turkey doesn't support any terrorist organization...The Hamas is , indeed, a radical group that has unfortunately perpetrated several attacks in Israel...And we Turks will never forgive such an attitude...But we Turks, as a key-mediator and as a really symbolic ally of both Israeli and Palestinian nations, we just cannot allow ourselves to ignore any opportunity for finding a way out of this tragedy...Our government doesn't support the Hamas, but actually it just tries to calm down the Hamas, through a symbolic gesture of respect, and we hope that our behaviour will have some efficiency upon the Hamas leaders's
decisions...

The article doesn't say that Arioin was a Greek ship, to be correct. The humanitarian aid was shipped by a US NGO. That doesn't really matter. What matters is that the aid won't reach those people who are in desperate need for neccessities. Hopefully Ban Ki Mun will manage to broker a cease-fire as soon as possible and the humanitarian aid will reach its destination.

Even if Arion was a Greek ship or not, thats the least important.

The think is that, Israel is planning a new Genocide in Gaza.
The people that havent died directly by the bomb, will die from famine, or injuries.
Shame on Israel.

Btw,Ibrahim, great answer

@Zoi, pope did make a comment some days ago:
http://www.boston.com/news/world/europe/articles/2006/11/05/pope_worried_about_situation_in_gaza/

veritas
I think that is consistent with Israel's 3-year siege of Gaza that deliberately starved and impoverished its inhabitants as punishment for resisting Israeli occupation and electing Hamas.

Israel has engaged a slow but steady process of ethnic cleansing against Palestinians over the 40 years. Since 1967 Israel's expansion into Palestinian land had little to do with security and everything to do with territorial expansionism. The record speaks for itself.

Since 1967 more than 18,000 Palestinian homes were destroyed by Israeli and 223 Jewish-only settlements were built on confiscated Palestinian land. And since they start keeping count in year 2000, more than 33,000 Palestinians were injured and 5,000 killed compared to 8,000 and 1,000 respectively on the Jewish side.

Their greed, arrogance and cruelty are revolting. Frankly, I never knew why Jews were hated until this war.

It is a shame on them, as a country, a shame on humanity, and especially on the Pope and the representatives of every religion, who serve only as...decorative items, they don't even dare/bother to make a comment.
Just watch the movie 'Amen' by Gabras (a Greek director, engl.sp. film about...Jewish Haulocaust. Ironic, isn't it?).

They did the same thing to the Lebanese ship that was carrying aid and supplies for the civilians of Gaza, and they also hit the ship. Of course, Israel is denying that this ever happened, ALTHOUGH, an AMERICAN was on that same Lebanese ship and she even said that the Israeli's hit that ship. But of course, Israel denies that, so the whole world accepts that, and that's the end of the story.

Hmmm... why doesn't the Western world know about this?!?!
But either way, Israel has already been blocking aid, medicine, and other neccisities from the people of Gaza for over a year now. For them, this situation is better, because they are not only depriving them of essential needs, but they are also killing them.

I expected it. It's not the first time they do it. As for the rest, I agree with Ibrahim.

added: Not that it is of any importance but "Arion" does sail under the Greek flag. There were Greek MPs on the ship as well as CNN and Al Jazeera reporters, doctors, and "Free Gaza Movement" activists.

Israel has always acted this way it is no surprise to me. My friend she is both Palestine-Greek. She's had the worst of it, from her Greek side dealing with the Turkey issue and the Palestinian side deal with the Israelis but she hates neither of them she wishes for peace and resolution, especially with the Palestine-Israel situation.

I think this is a terrible thing, and being Greek it makes me more angry that they will hurt us after all we are trying to help.

I hope this does not break into an all out war between all of us.

And 1st answerer it says the ship came from Cyprus, probably meaning they were Greeks on the ship.

@ibraham, going over the past list
of tragic events, and shoving the
blame on this one or that one,
is just more of a continuance to hate,
so just wondering do you have
any solutions to ending it, I thought
not, BTW why hasn't Turkey made any attempt
to risk their lives to make any sort
of humanitarian effort here? Or
are they to busy broadcasting
their total support for terrorist groups
while at the same time trying to kiss
Israel's azzzzz, cause we are all aware
of how afraid Turkey is of Israel'
As always Turkey looks like
a fool....Right-O, keep the hate
alive brother, and in the meantime
more people get to die so you

Yea, thats what I am talking about.

"Tayyip Erdogan has been a very vocal, outspoken advocate of Hamas,”
I am sorry ibro your words, as
usual have been copied and

never convincing enough your
telling truths, cause mostly you try
to despirately cover the
dirty deeds of your terrorist government.
What concerns you most is writing any
piece of crap that will justify

Truth is Turkish government
backs hamas, and this is not a support
for peace, it is one to ensure there is
more violence. So spare me any of the BS,
thanks....
Aww look heckel backs jeckel

@kyser-FYI, the USA the country
that I live in, the number 1 ally to
Israel, and most hated for it, still
is the top provider in assistance
to Gaza and the Palistines, more
then any other country ever has and
continues to do so, US also provides
billions of aid to Armenia every year, and
your country is still the top provider of
the hardship and dispair in Armenia
which unfortunatly puts Armenia in
a place where they have nothing to give.
yea I do I have every right, how
much of your hard earn cash goes to
Internationial humanitarian relief?
Ignorance is truly your down fall.

I don't know that this ship was flying a Greek flag. But I believe it was carrying arms down below deck. That is a good enough reason to turn a ship away during a war.

I also believe that the asker is an anti-Semite who uses various names here on Yahoo Answers.

The ships are Greek, the trouble makers on board were not, Israel has the right to do so.

The number of dead are numbers provided by the Palestinians, tell me please, how many of these are Hamas "fighters".
