I´m not sure if Istanbul iz a nyc place, but if you´re wondering whether it is a nice place then yes! it is! definitely! it ´s east meet west! very romantic and very inspiring.

You should elaborate on what you mean. Are you asking if Istanbul is similar to New York? If so, I would say Istanbul is like a less intense version of New York. It is very cosmopolitan (though, nowhere near as diverse), full of culture, night life, etc. Even the weather is similar to New York but not as extreme (cold winters, humid summers).

Like New York, people come to it from smaller cities with hopes of making it. Like New York, you find people from every step of the social ladder. It attracts the "low lives" as well as the "Hollywood types".

Another point similar to New York is that you can find anything you might need in Istanbul. But since Istanbul is much much larger in terms of physical size, you can't find all these things in a one-block radius and you might need to travel for them. Transportation is also different in Istanbul. Public transportation is not even close in terms of practicality and ease of use and you need a car. The traffic is very much the same.

Now, if you are asking if Istanbul is a "nice" place, then the answer is yes again. In addition to everything I've listed above, see the other question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AmJQdBb1kA3_ZavhC_vj.wPty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080422063645AAjxucl&show=7#profile-info-B4YoqRJtaa
