As an American who lives in Istanbul and just returned here from a stay in the states, I feel quite comfortable in Sultanahmet where there are many tourists at present. Please come visit! |

Our political situation got nothing to do with our attitude towards our guests visiting Turkey. You can feel safe about that issue.
You have to be careful about our traffic and purse snatchers (unfortunately..) though. That is what we are trying to do..
Other than that Istanbul has the lowest crime rate among the worlds metropolitan cities.
Enjoy your stay :)
Last Minute Addition : HANIBAL, my vote is on you :D |

If I fart would you ask about the air pollution of Turkey?
Turkey is a democratic and secular republic. More than 1 million people join in to the meeting. Is there any bad event happened. No . What can be dangerous for you. |

Yes it is very safe. I would say its just as safe as any city in america. Probably safer as there are sever penalties for hurting or robbing tourist in turkey. |

I don`t see any problems in flying to Istanbul, that's where I`m going to fly soon again to.And like hurrican says,it`s a political situation and not against the tourists.I hope they find the right way out of there problem soon.Turkey is such a beautiful country and the people just want to be free. |

The political situation? So your question is, is Turkey's continued interest in becoming part of Europe while holding its interest in the Middle East causing any problems for English-speaking tourists?
The general advice is to stay away from touristy things where a lot of Americans hang out. I'm planning on studying abroad in Turkey next spring. I recommend you just check for any new travel advisories from the State Department before you go. |
