Krakow, Poland used to be a wonderful place. Now the drunken British filth...? |
...are crawling all over it as if they discovered the place. I am an American who lived in Krakow for many years. I came back to the United States about 6 years ago. I returned to Krakow to visit some friends and what did I find? Drunken British tourists everywhere, in the streets, in the square, shouting profanities and puking everywhere. It is a shame that Krakow is being overrun by these idiots. The Krakow I loved is gone. The British are running apartment prices thru the sky with the Pound. Ridiculous crumbly apartments for $150,000 bucks I could have bought for $15,000 to $25,000 only about 8 years ago. I used to drink beer for about $.75 all day and now it's almost $3.50. I am sad to see Poland go this direction, leaving their own citizens to become peasant workers for the drunken British scum. Anyone else suffer the same experiences? Additional Details Well, I didn't say all Brits were scum. I said the British scum are over-running the place. The Brits have always been in Krakow. So have Americans. We all have our scum. But now, the scum is over-flowing there, and it happens to be British...and Italian as well. Stag parties where there used to be just students sitting quietly, studying, reading, talking, sharing a quiet evening. My war? American agression? Britain caused this war when Britain created Kuwait out of the old Empire. You guys did so to try to assure control of oil, and avoid a large country being able to dominate. Kuwait would be easier to make behave. So don't blame this war on our aggression. We are cleaning up just another mess you guys sparked years ago. India and Pakistan is yet another example of the British ******* it up, and the Americans having to keep tabs on it to keep it from exploding ad causing world wide havoc. Vietnam? British troops were in Vietnam as early as 1945. We are stuck with each other..STS. |

I am Polish. I live in Poland and do not expect to move anywhere else. I wonder, what has happened to you, British people, that you react to any criticism with so much aggression?
There are a few simple facts that you prefer to overlook: first, that you should not react to criticism with reciprocal criticism, often beside the point. This "defense" was patented long ago by Soviet politicians who, when accused of breaking human rights, always responded: "And you mistreat your black citizens". Is that an example you want to follow?
Second, Polish people coming to find jobs in Britain somehow make you extremely sore. Why? The jobs were there, anyway - why didn't you want to take them? Oh, too poorly paid, I understand. Well, I have news for you: there are people who are glad to be paid even that little, instead of being on the dole for several generations. See my point?
Finally, the drunken "tourists" in Kraków and other Polish cicties. I have not seen them, so I cannot speak from my own experience, but something tells me that fads come and go - and in a few years "barbaric hordes" will invade Prague or Budapest for a change. Anyway, it seems that Kraków hosts found the only fail-safe weapon to combat the love for cheap beer - economy, if the beer is not so cheap now. Anyway 2 - poor you, Britons, if a couple of beers make you lose your minds... |

The world used to be a wonderful place. Now the aggressive paranoid yank filth...?
...are crawling all over it as if they discovered the place. First they go into Vietnam and use disgraceful chemicals to attack innocent people because they are losing the war in their paranoid fear of communism. Then the loud, paranoid yanks go and meddle in the middle east pretending they want to spread democracy when we all know it's about oil-or they would be 'helping' countries like Burma out. I used to be able to walk down the street without fear of a terrorist attack, but the yanks have made it terrible to be a westerner now and just like the drunken Brits we all get tarred with the same brush.. The laughable thing is they constantly talk about rogue nations and states despite the fact that they are the most aggressive nation on earth. I am sad to see the world go in this direction, Anyone else suffer the same experiences? |

This, from and American, who go everywhere in the world, being pushy and loud mouthed. All you are worried about is that the price of beer and property has gone up, I suspect that the amount of money the Brits are spending over there is not being rejected. Anyway there are not many peasant workers left in Poland, as since they joined the EU, many are dispersed across Europe. Those same British scum as you call them, are out in Iraq supporting your war. As for shouting profanities, have you listened to the average american lately, m****r f*****g seems to come after every second word. Stay at home if you dont like it. |

I went to Krakow a few months ago- i thought it was beautiful and the people were so friendly.
I think lots of countries don't have a very good reputation when going abroad, not necessary only the 'drunken Brits'. I think it's up to individuals to behave and it's not fair to generalize.
Sometimes going back to a place you loved is a disappointment in itself, purely because it changed.
And in 8 years time a lot can change - eg joining the European Union, which is a big reason for why things are way more expensive now. |

NASTY. It sounds to me the like the filthy British are spending lots of money there,And how come you can go there but not the British ?.I think you are a nasty little man with a chip on his shoulder.......ps Im not British Im an Aussie. |

While i understand your worries, I think you should be more careful when singling out certain nationalities. No-one should generalize. 60 years ago, Hitler did generalize against part of the European population and we all know how it ended.
I am a Swiss, and live in Spain, where hundreds of thousands of Brits flock every year to our wonderful beaches and islands. While there is a small minority who certainly shouldn't be travelling as they lack even the slightest knowledge of the country's etiquette, I must say that most of the Brits are polite (in many cases more polite than the locals) and well educated. All nationalities have their "lower end" tourists.... the Swiss do, the Spaniards do, and the Americans and Chinese and Russian too! But then there's very little we can do, and I see it more like collateral damage than a big nuisance.
For my part, I will always be proud that millions of tourists from the world over, and from all levels of society, choose to visit my country! |

"British filth" "British scum" You are way out of order.
Once again SOME of you Americans seem to be hitting a friendly target. |

The hooliganism of a certain segment of the British population is no doubt a matter of grave embarrassment to most Brits. I'm only one generation removed from England and I know my relatives in the UK find this sort of behavior deplorable.
Its an unfortunate reality that civil behavior among younger British males is just no longer what it once was.
On the other hand, I think you have no legitimate basis to complain that a destination that was once not much frequented by tourists is now popular, time has passed and that prices have risen as a result. The result would be the same whether Krakow was now frequented by large numbers of drunken louts or large numbers of well behaved and well heeled art connoisseurs.
When I first started traveling to Europe 40 years ago I could get a room at a very nice B&B in Russel Square in London for $25 a night for a double and my room in central Paris cost $22. Guess what? Times change. Prices go up. Deal with it. |

So sorry that our "brain deads" have invaded your Shangri-la; although we're glad to see the back of them.
Krakow is now another place to take off my list of "Places I would like to visit" |

My daughters have both been to Krakow with their boyfriends, they went for the culture and are not drunken Brittish scum! On the other side of the coin where my daughters live and work they are overrun with Polish workers. My eldest daughter is a nurse in A&E and sees many young Brittish men who have been attacked by Polish workers often carrying knives! Don't judge everyone by the odd bad person you see! |
