Zoi ((Ζωή))

Hello,
I pretty understand you, because we had the same probleme when we were about to decide my daughters name. We called her Zoi (Ζωή), which is thought to be a very nice name in Greece, and also very meaningful (=life. I had a very bad pregnancy spent in a hotel and at 2 month was told Zoi was dead).
Another name is Areti (Αρετή)=virtue, Filareti (Φιλαρέτη).
Diotima (Διοτίμα)- an important ancient woman filosofer, Sapho (Σαπφώ)-a very very important greek female lyric poet, the first woman poet (I think).
Kassandra (Κασσάνδρα,the sister or Paris from the Troan war, she was a sybilla but noone believed her when predicted the fall of Troia), Ekavi (Εκάβη, Kassandra's mother, qween of Troia, name of an ancient tragedy of Eyripidis),.
Themis (Θέμις/Θέμιδα), the ancient godess of justice, she is the blind justice (her image is universal).
Alexandra (the female name for Alexander).
Atalanti (Αταλάντη), Artemis (Άρτεμις).
And a christian name that you will probably know from the movie "The chiton", Lydia (Λυδία)-the first christian of Greece.
Clio (Κλειώ), Thalia (Θάλεια), Aspasia (Ασπασία), Kassiopi, Amfitriti, Ypatia (Ιπατία, a filosofer and mathematician) and many many other.

If I ever have a daughter, I will call her "Callisti (Καλλίστη)". In modern Greek it means "the best", while in ancient Greek it means "the most beautiful". I think it sounds beautifully also.

What about christening her Panayota.Her nameday will then be celebrated on the 15th August.If you don't like to use her name after the christening you can then modify it to Betty. This is what my parents did for me. I celebrate my name day on the 15th and my name is Betty.If I was born in Greece my parents wouldn't have changed it as I also would have liked to be known as Panayota.Well goodluck to you and God bless!!

Selena (or Selini) sounds nice. It means "moon" in Greek and I think the nameday is June 5. Plus, it will not be too close to your baby's birthday. Lydia is also nice (20 May & 27 March).

Described as a city of unique beauty, I think it would also serve as a delightful and different, but still Greek, name for a little girl. My choice would be "Chania".
