We love Malta, we go quite often, the people are very friendly and speak English, its a bit old and tatty, but got warmth and charm, withplenty of history especially the capital Valletta,Mdina is a beautiful walled city and is a must. The sea is magical.also. Its like being back in the sixties, with old cars and buses. I would say it appeals to the older generation but there is quite a bit of night life in Patchville which is quite near to St Julians,. About the temperature I would say its arround 65deg, but some days could be higher. We went in late November and it was warm enough to swim. When we asked one of the locals what would the weather be like in January, he said " We can have warm sunny days." I hope you make it there one day if you are English as it is steeped in our history. I also think the Maltese like us because of our help in the war. Happy traveling! |

It's a great place for holidays any time of the year. In December, the weather is unpredictable so bring your cozzie and a warm coat. If you're on the coast, the mosquitoes bite all the year round, so bring a spray or electric controller. |

December is not a very good month for holidays in Malta, but not so bad either. Well, quite warm 17-20 C, it´s raining now and then, grey days! I don´t recommend a visit to Malta in December.
Visited Malta at the end of March, perhaps just a little too warm then, but it was great, Malta is a beautiful island with an interesting history. Wait until January, February, March, if you want to enjoy warm weather, warm sea water and if you perhaps like diving. In April it´s beginning to be very hot and many travel agencies stop arranging travels to Malta. Anyway Malta is a very nice place, the natives are nice in a polite kind of way. The Maltese have two native languages, English and a language that it´s like a mixture of Arabic and Italian.
If you like to party much then don´t go. Malta is quite expensive. Malta will change it´s currency to euros Jan. 1st 2008!
Perhaps best to stay at home in December, but there are of course other good tourist resorts, for instance Thailand. It´s a beautiful country, warm, very, very nice people and very cheap compared to many European tourist places. |

We went at the beginning of February and had a wonderful holiday. It was warm during the day, but not warm enough to swim - except in the hotel's indoor pool. It was really cold at night.
People say you either love Malta or hate it - you'll have to go to find out! |

During the holidays it wont be that cold but bring some warm clothes anyway. Nice parties for New Years Eve. |

I was stationed in Malta with the Royal Marines for ten months. It's a great place and just about everyone speaks English. Valetta, Floriana and Sliema are the main centres of entertainment. The island is quite small and if you can arrange it there is much to see all over the island. I spent Christmas Day and New Year's Eve on ceremonial guard duty at the Palace of the Grand Masters in Valetta. Christmas day was quiet as you would expect but there was plenty of celebration going on on New Year's Eve, especially in Straight Street which runs down behind the Palace Guardroom. |

Best advice I can give:
1)Go to your local library or bookstore.
2)Go to Travel Section.
3)Compare the pictures and then the text.
4)Feel confident to choose nearby Sicily instead. |

I have been to Malta, but not in December. The island is not the prettiest, but its ok. There is a huge sense of second World War history there with museums and exhibitions in Valetta.
I stand to be corrected, but I don't thin December would be the greatest month for tourists. There are many Churches so celebrating Christmas would be great.
I would not risk it. Try it one summer first. |
