Modelling career?

well i wanted to ask this question because ı'm interested in Turkish people's point of view

so here is my story and I'm expecting your answer and comments on it:

as some of you maybe know, I'm a dancer. I also teach people at dance studios.
my familt is not really pleased with it, because you know how people think when you tell them that you are a dancer. they think that you are kind of easy to get, a cheap girl.
but anyway i love dancing and i like any job that includes shoe business.
after one of my dane performances, someone from a known ( at least some people know) modelling agency offered me a job, as a model
he said that i have almost all the characteristics to be a model.
i would accept this if i were alone
but now I'm not sure, because of my parents. I'm 99% sure that they won't let me. and i can partly understand them
i also have no experience as a model but he said that i can learn.
Additional Details
my parents think that i have a bright future. i study law and I'm quite good at school
actually they were always scared of the fact that i might become a dancer one day

and i don't know what to do now
shall i tell them

how would u react if you were in the same situation as a parent?

Dear Yagmur,
dancing is a fine art, modelling is not. In some countries modelling can be a respectable job, but I am afraid it is not so in Turkey. No matter how hard you try, those rascals will not let you alone. They will try to pull you into the ditch of drugs, alcohol and sex. There is no future in it.
If I were you, or if I were your father, I would tell you to continue your education in law and carry on dancing.
By the way, what kind of dance do you do? Ballet? Modern dancing? What? I only think of ballet when someone says he/she is a dancer :)

I'm not turkish but I feel like answering your question, as we have two things in common: I'm a Lawyer and an amateur dancer and choreographer (of professional level, though) as well.
Young Turk, Anlarm, Pear, Robin, Bird, are right.
Just go on with your studies and afterwards you'll have all the time (and resources) to exercise your dancing as well. It will be more precious and pleasant as dancing will help you escape from your professional activities... And you'll be both a good lawyer and a good dancer, I'm sure...

Apart from how it will be received by your family, don't trust these guys right away. They might have bad intentions. Have a background check.

I played guitar more than 10 years. Do you know Kutsi. I also work with him. Now he is famous. But he worked too much for that.
Show business is too attractive for a young one. But for fame , you must pay it's bill .

I have a doughter also and my answer is No.
First you must listen your parents.

Good Morning Yagmur,

Well, maybe you know, I have a doughter ...
I am respectfull your thinking. But I must say, my thinking like your parents.
School is more important and first of all, my advice finish your school and must take school certified.

And then choose what you want ...

Well, you do not like this answer, but I must say, you are my friend, you are my sister...

My answer is also 'No' first finish school for my doughter.

Take Care of Yourself

PS. Yagmur, Just wonder, would you please write that agency name, if possible ?

:(
my answer is no to your question... stay in school... become a lawyer instead of becoming a lousy model

Dear Missy ,

Your first ambition is dancing not modelling. Continue your school and your dancing. After Your graduation you can do your dance or even open a dancing school.

I never thought that I would sound like my parents but when you become one it happens.

So as said in turkish First get your golden Bracelett( önce koluna altın bileziğini tak yanii eğitim ) and go then go on dancing.

follow your dreams and if ur parents love you they should support u

Supposing that the agency is a serious one (it is possible that it is not, you know), here's my opinion:

Modelling is something you do with your body, not your mind. It may look attractive when you're young, but when you mature, it will look boring and meaningless, especially if you are bright enough to be a lawyer if you want to.

The human being looks for meaning in life and personally, I can't think of a more meaningless occupation than modelling.

If you feel you want to be an artist, go on dancing, be a shoe designer, I don't know, be an actress, but modelling? Really!

Claudia
Dear Missy
Please finish you`r school first and then you still have time enough to go out in the big world.

Dancing and being a model are different things.

I suggest u to countinue dancing..Dancers aren't cheap but sure the models are..

But if u really want to do this, then u should follow ur dreams.Ignore ur parents..They will forgive u after 1-2 weeks for sure ;-)

Hy!
About the modeling career. I like your avatar and logo i think it is from Tchaikovsky Swan Lake :-). I like that u teach people to dance, it is a nice job, the dance knowledge it is very important for an individual. It is about that "savoir d etre" ( comment on dit les francais), Modeling for me is not so meting i easy relate and reverberate for. A lot of girls are exploited in modeling ( and i am not referring only at sexual abuse, it is food exploitation etc). Education must be first. You must graduate, you must take your diploma. I was in Turkey last month and i saw the women's condition ( i don t say that is the case of all Turkish women's) in your country. I must only imagine the model condition. Modeling, part time seems good with a serious company. modeling for commercials also sounds good, but... u can combine both dance and modeling in exotic dance ;-)

as long as I believe in my daughter and trust her, there is no harm... well, she is the one I raised, so if she thinks that is the correct thing for her, she should go for it... that's how i think... I hope you can decide the best thing for you...but I can also understand your parents, i'm sure they have ideas that can justify their thoughts, you cannot trust those people easily, we read a lot of stuff on the papers... anyway,it's hard to be a parent:))) so good luck with your career...and take care of yourself..

p.s i think dancing is wonderful, and for god's sake it is art!!! you are so lucky that you can perform an art...

Hi,
One day people who gave you advices will go away and you are going to stay with your own problems. You are going to be a lawyer and you don't like this job more than you love dancing. In Turkey there are good opportunities and also if you don't check the background of that agency you can take a wrong decision. In today's world in every country there are good and bad people. In Turkey there are very beautiful and respected models(Sema Simsek for ex.) Follow your dream don't be depressed afterwards with a job that you don't want to do but make a background check of the agency. You should do this for every country.

thats how it all starts! did he say that he's gonna give you a candy bar as well? you're into yourself soooo much....

Mr. T's Pretty Cuzzin
It's really really really hard being so ridiculously good looking all the time. I should know, I'm Dere... well, let's just say you've seen me in ads and on billboards everywhere. You might know my famous look, "Blue Steel." Anyway, I highly recommend you buy the movie "Zoolander" a real-life documentary about real life models and stuff. Modeling's not all dobble machiatto frappy chai teas and gasoline fights with your best friends. It's getting the black lung and realizing you have to help people that can't read good and stuff. It' really really really hard being so ridiculously good looking all the time.

Qu'est ce que tu pense?
Go for it!
