No that will not be a problem within the EU where every EU citizen has the right to freedom of movement across the whole EU.

The matter of identity is a valid issue, but even an out of date passport can provide that!

Incidentally, you could renew the passport at a UK Consulate whilst you are in Europe, it will only take 3 or 4 days, although it does cost twice as much!

i went to france and back- and my passport expired 2 days after i got back. but it's risky- what if you are delayed, and her pass port expires while abroad?

Penfold
If you are an EU citzien travelling within the EU, you can travel on an valid unexpired passport.

As far as I remember (I am in the UK as well), it is dependent on the country you are visiting. Different countries have different rules but four weeks will not be enough.

It is not a hard and fast rule for all countries but six months seems to be the minimum that some countries look for.

Ring the passport office advice line at 0300 222 0000

Nope, I Believe there is omethin like 6 Months or Something Like that

Some overseas countries have an immigration requirement for a passport to remain valid for a minimum period after entry to that country. Holding a British passport does not exempt the holder from complying with these requirements. If your passport is in its final year of validity, you are advised to check the requirements of your destination country before you make your final travel plans. Any questions should be addressed to their consulate or embassy. You can find a list of foreign embassies in the UK on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website (new window). Your travel agent will also be able to give you advice on visas.
You do not have to wait until your passport expires before you renew it. If you renew your passport before it expires, any unexpired period of validity rounded up to the nearest whole month (minimum of one month, maximum of nine months) will be added to your new passport. This period is calculated from the point at which your new passport is authorised for issue, not from date of application. You therefore need to apply at least six weeks before your passport expires to get this benefit.

nope, there should be a 2 months extension.
very sure of it. i just traveled. :D

If your daughter is a UK citizen she can travel to any EU country as long as her passport is valid. (She just better return to the UK on the last day of validity or she needs to apply for a new passport abroad at the UK embassy.)

EU citizens can travel to other EU countries with nothing but a valid national ID card. Since UK citizens do not have national ID cards yet you need a passport to travel.

Not to any country outside of your own.

no because you must have 3months left on the passport to travel overseas just re-new it takes 1 week or if you want in asap you pay them extra money and you pick it up within 2days
