You're Europeana as both Hungary and Slovakia are in Europe. In Central Europe the ethnity is usually recognised by the language used in the family. If your father spoke Hungarian, most people will recognise him as Hungarian. But the ethnity is also a psychological issue. You are who you want to be. You can be European and both Hungarian and Slovak (at least according to former or present citizenship.

SFdude
Well, Slovaks are Slavs (related to Russians, Poles, Serbs, etc.)...and Slavs are European, just from the Eastern part the continent rather than the West.

If you are Slovakian then you are European at the same time. But taking into consideration the fact that you were born in the USA Id say youre American with, to put it this way, half-Slovakian background. Or simply half-Slovakian, half-American.
Though if you FEEL Slovakian you may say youre Slovakian, if you FEEL American you say youre American. How simple is that? :)

Mandi
Where were you born? Wherever, then you're a ___ citizen with a Czechoslovakian background, and probably a Hungarian background as well.

you are 1/2 of what your mom is and 1/2 of what your dad is. it actually doesn't matter where you are born. both my parents could be german and if im born in australia that doesn't mean im australian....

dovi_michelle
Well, I think you should first ask father about the spelling of those names such as Czechoslovakia, and person who lives in Slovakia is not a Slovakian but they are Slovaks. Well, I think you can have European or Slovak or Czech or Hungarian backround and you can say that your father comes from Czech or Slovak republic but in fact you can't be Slovak or Hungarian or Czech;)
