I agree with you... one can sheldom find a place to listen to good music at, apart from home where we do have our choice... I suggest you try Rodos... Apart from the natural beauties (beaches, forests etc) and monuments (the medieval town of the Knights is unique), one can find a variety of bars and cafes whith different kinds of music as latin, smooth, rock etc. If you decide to, I could give you some information as to where they are located...

Come to Lesvos. Stay away from the clubs and bars (and the monasteries, too) rent a car and really discover the island. You'll have a fantastic time!!!!

Go to Samothraki. You' ll find peace, it's an extraordinary,mystic place, people are really good there and they prefer rock and good music generally!
The natural beauty of this island is splendid. You can climb the mountains and dive from the cascades, swim in the small lakes, called "vathres", go to the faraggi (I don't know how is it called in english) of Fonias and enjoy the nature.
The town is a really nice, traditional, small place and people is transporting with a bus or does hitch hiking, which is pretty safe there.

Come on, in Mykonos and Paros there are not only tsifteteladika, you can find bars with other genres of music. For example in Mykonos I remember there is that Montparnasse Piano Bar in Little Venice, its great. Or even the Castro bar a few steps from the piano bar, its music and view is excellent. For another island,I would suggest Sifnos ,I go there every year there are many beach bars with country or jazz music.I am lovin it!

Just avoid the bars-clubs that play them! I have gone to almost all the islands, and I never go to bars-clubs like that, I prefer a quiet taverna or mexican restaurant or cafe in the evening.

Music isn't the only thing that makes the night great but either step outside when the music isn't to your liking or just stear clear of the bouzoukia. Hang out on the beach or how about a bar w/ bouzouki or rembetika?

When all else fails, grab the iPod.

If you want meet an absolutely different, strange, magic culture and people too, without all these things which bothers you, I suggest you must go to Ikaria (Armenistis/Yaliskari) for 5-6 days.

Try Skiathos, Serifos, Milos, Sifnos, Kos...
There are sooo many beautiful islands here in Greece that have all kinds of bars/clubs and not only ellinadika with tsiftetelia and zeimpekika LoL!
All these places with mostly Greek music are there to attract the tourists because it's something new to them.
You'll just have to spend your first night in each island to walk into the little streets and spot the places you like...
Then your holidays will be perfect! =)
