Oil in Turkey?

In your opinion, are there big oil fields in Turkey. Do you believe the urban legend that big oil companies covered the oil fields with concrete to keep them hidden? Why do you believe this?
Additional Details
Those of you who believe that Western powers or oil companies are stopping Turkey to find its oil, why are you thinking that way? Why would these powers stop only Turkey but not other countries like Russia, Norway, Venezuela...?

Chances are great that Turkey has got oil fields. However, this is a matter of politics and economy. They can get oil in Iraq from 200meters. In Turkey it is much deeper in the ground. They are probably waiting for the other oil fields to dry up so they can start digging in Turkey.

tramp
They found oil from Blacksea and also we have oil reserves in Batman and south east region. We live on old civiliazitions lands and of course we have oil but we dont have the technology.i know it sounds stupid to you that covering thing but in Irak from 15 meters from our side they found oil but when it comes to us No.Why.it is just the mean British policy from 1800s

:(
i havent heard that one before... i hope it's not true

Yes, there are lots of oil-wells in Diyarbakır, Mardin and Şanlıurfa which big oil companies keep them hidden. Thats why EU and US try to set up a free Kurdish country on these lands. They provoke the locals by "freedom for Kurds" lies and support the pkk.

A choice between the oil-wells and Kurds will not be so hard for the EU/US as u know!!!

Turkey is 814 578 km². We have a lot of different kinds of natural sources.

YabanciKiz
No, sounds like your standard run-of-the mill conspiracy theory along the lines of "Aydin Dogan is Rahmi Koc's love child" that sells books at D&R.

genç türk
The oil in turkey is planned to be fully utilized when the oil rich parts are seperated from turkey.

Hurricane
of course i do! All of our neighbours have very rich oil fields why doen't Turkey have that! Especially the south-west area of Turkey is full with oil but this is kept hidden by some "powers!" America cames and makes researches and says: There is no oil. That's a lie.Unfortunatelly our government doesn't pay enough attention for these researches.

ha ha ha ...
I have heard this joke before!

Hoplite
If there was oil under turkey, the turkish generals wouldn't go green every time they think about the agean oil and the oil in the south sea of cyprus.
