As I can know, Turks are not odd. Maybe different in some way- and it is absolutely normal- because of them religious or culture, or sth else. But we are different too, for them. |

odd, no i don't think so.
i live in Turkey at the moment. I have wonderful friends.
I love the fact that they laugh a lot and they are very sincere. |

I didn't find anything odd either. However I found it cute how many men were whistling or singing whilst working! |

Hem I think that Turkish people are so kind and friendly I never been to turkey but I have some friends from turkey and I rely like to be with them I hope one day I can vast turkey |

Qu'est ce que tu pense?

The women here like to dance while they're cooking and sometimes they like to sing. My aunts are like that. I also noticed that whenever, for example, a Turk is walking downtown and a vendor comes by to sell something to them. They simply click their tongue, meaning no. I find, I too, do that all the time. :-) |

Your Trains are slow, always over- or under-heated
You don't stop at red lights, even if there are people around.
pedestrians fearlessly and nonchalantly cross the street whether the light is green or not.
If you have a business appointment or interview with someone, you show up half an hour late. The business may take much longer and frequently interrupted by another person or a phone call |

Odd things I observed....that thing about wind and air....thought it was only my husband that was paranoid about that.
I noticed Turkish men speak with their eyes....not sure if that makes sense, but I was able to read people/conversations very well by looking at guys eyes....lol especially when they were lying. |

The one that really gets me is the pathological fear of wind and cold. Even in 40-degree heat, my fellow dolmus passengers will be deathly afraid of an open window--"oof, oof, sicak ya...ben zaturee olacagim...cami kapatir misin?"
Or along the same lines, many people here will think they'll drop dead if they sit in air-conditioning. I've heard air-conditioning blamed for every ailment from colds to menstrual cramps, and from hemorroids to food poisoning. When I try to use logic along the lines of, "I grew up using air-conditioning every summer and not once did I get a cold from an air-conditioner," or "some 250 million people in the US have access to A/C, yet they do *not* all have colds now," they give me a smug look as if I'll never learn, tuck in their vest and put on another sweater. Never mind the fact that moist heat with no air circulation is the most ideal environment for germs to multiply...
Another gripe this time of year is the failure among many of my fellow IETT passengers to wear deodorant. Man stink is just not attractive. |

I'm a foreign holder of Turkish citizenship. I love Turkey and turks but, ... the main issue is very high percentage of the low-educated people. This is a fault of the whole nation, but only the government. |

Hmmm ive met so many Turkish ppl and had so many friends and i found nothing odd about them.
So i guess u ppl rock hehe |

Couple of major ones:
The issue with being cold - most parts of the country will be sweltering heat for the majority of the year - yet people will constantly talk about a 45-day period which gets mildly chilly in some areas. August in Turkey in some regions can be deadly hot for the elderly, yet people will still fear the cold dramatically. I think it was the summer of 1987 which had the greatest losses (Athens was documented to have over 100 in July-August) - yet the majority of people do not have a/c or some other cooling method in their homes. |
