Go to Fethiye near Ölü Deniz and make a day trip to Ölü Deniz just to see it. In August, Ölü Deniz is hotter than hell. Other places are also very hot but when I was in Ölü Deniz once in August, I had the impression that the air was not moving. Fethiye is better. The 12 island trip you mentioned in your question was one of the best things I have ever done in Turkey. I was about 15 then by the way.
If you choose to go to Kusadasi, don't stay in town. Pick something outside Kusadasi.
Marmaris is a party town as Blunt has already mentioned it.
Never been in Didim but I heard that it's quite nice.
***
For August, I would generally suggest the Western Coast of Turkey (Aegean Sea). Foça is nice and Çeşme because it can be quite windy there. The South is usually not windy and for me personally way too hot (I grew up in Southern Turkey by the way and I should at least theoretically be more resistant). The South is better in late September and early October, or in Spring. |

It would be hard to keep track of the young ones in a party town like Marmaris. I would choose somewhere like Didim or Ölüdeniz.
Sure, there are bars and clubs everywhere, but Marmaris seems to have exaggerated the thing. I know, I go there every year. I know how to escape the crowd, but then again, I am an adult intent on always going the other way than popular. |

Fethiye or Oludeniz
You can also go to see Dalyan - one of my most favorite places in Turkey. It will be close enough.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalyan
Fehiye, Bodrum , Dalyan are all in the same city .They are provinces of Mugla. So, if you have time, you'll even be able to see Bodrum too.
In Fethiye, there is a holiday village I adore:
Lykia Holiday Village and Hotel.
There are many water slides - large and small - within that facility. |

I really like Didim, more specifically, Altinkum :)
It's so amazing! Lovely beaches, so many excursions available, great food, tons of bars and restaurants and a great family resort, not too busy but not too quiet :)
Also, there is a didim waterpark, but you could always take a dolmus ride to the kusadasi water park, that's what I always do :) I find Kusadasi a bit too noisy to stay there for my whole holiday haha! |

You have quite a few places to choose, cool! :)
I feel you are looking for a destination where the beach is fantastic and the water parks for kids to enjoy, right? :)))
There are many 5 star AI resorts in Turkey would provide you both and you could also explore the surroundings. If you are open and willing to stay in all inclusive resorts than it is easy to kill two birds with one stone!
Looking at your first option Oludeniz, why not stay in Lykia World. I stayed there once and love it! http://www.lykiaworld.com/Cultures/en-US/Default.aspx and http://www.sunshine.co.uk/hotels/Lykia_World_Resort_Hotel-175.html Great beaches too. Olu deniz is my fav out of the options you give.
The water park capital is Kusadasi in Turkey. Attached link is the resort with the Water Park http://www.aquafantasy.com/aquahotel.asp?lang=en and the following is the reviews for this place with pics http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g293976-d672605-Reviews-Aqua_Fantasy_Hotel_Aquapark-Selcuk_Izmir_Province_Turkish_Aegean_Coast.html
I did a day trip to this place since they were all sold out when I phoned them last year in April for July. It is on Pamucak Bay with nice beaches, 10 minutes away from Kusadasi by dolmush, a big town with a huge bazaar perhaps the largest touristy town on the Turkish Aegean sea cost line, caters to cruise ships and tourists from all over the world.
Close to Ephesus, St John’s Basilica, The House of Virgin Mary, Selçuk [Ephesus] Archeological Museum.
Adaland, which is the largest aqua park, is 2-3 km away from this resort. Again the beach is nice but not the best in Turkey, one of the best in Pamucak Bay though. I agree with Bix about avoid staying town of Kusadasi
Marmaris, is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the coast. Beaches are great but I haven’t been to the water park..yet! :))
Didim, has long sandy beaches which you would like it. Water Parks? Dunno. :) Temple of Appollo is in Didim, close to Bodrum and Millet Natioanl Park.
Before booking the trip I suggest you visit one of the travel agencies in your hometown they usually give you a good travel package deals for holiday destinations. Thomas Cook, Flight Center etc.
Enjoy your holiday wherever you go and please for your own sake book it quickly because good places sell out very fast….very fast! |
