Question for Turks who don't live abroad : Do you have a gun ? And do you carry it in the streets ? And why ?

Gun? What is a gun? What is it used for? Why do people carry a gun?
I always carry one or two pens in my pocket. I cannot go out without a pen and my mobile phone :)
Now in UK police can and do carry guns. I don't know about France or other European countries. They do in Belgium too.

Hold on here. Japan, the United Kingdom, and Canada have much stricter gun laws than the United States and Turkey. All of those countries have much lower murder rates. Japan has pretty much completely banned guns and they have one of the lowest murder rates in the world. So I don't buy your argument that you need ammos to protect your family. We must get rid of guns because a deranged lunatic may go on a shooting
spree at any time and anyone who would own a gun out of fear of such a
lunatic is paranoid. Now tell me do you still want to own a gun!

you need to get a permit to buy a gun... and it cant be worse then USA.. at least we're not selling guns in the supermarkets.... what do you mean its forbidden in France? noone can get a gun in France or any other european country? i recommend you to read Turkish Mother Law and then ask a question...

actually not so many people carry it with them,you are right lots of people has got guns but they are kept at home.

i don't have a gun and i don't think i will get one in the future,but my dad has one,when he was working he was carrying it but after his retirement he doesn't carry it anymore

What kind of question is this? Gun is very dangerous and my family doesn't have it..And for example if u shoot a thief with ur gun, u will be guilty because of 'to want to kill a person'

Nobody in my family (in Turkey) owns a gun. I had to write a paper on gun control in the United States and I was surprised to find that the U.S. is worse on gun control laws than other European countries. Personally, I think people shouldn't carry them around because they actually do more harm than good. Statistics show that people who own guns rarely ever use them for defense and even if they do, they end up hurting themeself instead. It's also not safe around children. So many children accidently get hurt by playing around with their parent's guns, and end up killing themself. I think any country, whether it's the U.S. or Turkey should not allow people to have guns, because it doesn't help...it only kills.

I can't understand. You critisize gun carrying and you have a gun? Why don't you do what you preach and get rid of the gun? If you find yourself in real danger, I'm sure that gun won't help you a bit. You'll either get killed or be a killer. I don't know which is worse.

There have been burglary cases in my neighborhood and we have two big black dogs. They are family pets, actually, but the burglar neednot know that, does he?

i dont know who u really are. fatih turco or whatever but let me tell u in UK even Police cant carry gun. You have no right to call people racist because they did not give permit to you to carry a gun!!! You should throw your gun away if u really thinking your family. Turkish people suffered enough from city magandas!
