Seriously, is there a big risk of getting mugged in Krakow, Poland? |
I asked a simple question about dressing in Poland and got a few answers that said that we would probably get mugged going in January.
Can you tell me how likely this is and how to best keep ourselves safe please? Thanks |

God , stop making Poland as a stupid country.
They can mugged you as in other country. You just need to be carefully.
Don't left your wallet or mobile phone whatever you want.
Take care of your stuff. Don't trues people who says "i will find you cheap hotel but you need to give me some money" or "i will give you a lift blah blah blah " Krakow is very popular in Poland so lot of people can speak a little bit english. so don't freak out:) and enjoy:)
and btw : don't running naked in Poland:P as a lot of english people do ( if you are english) because they can arrest you:)
any questions?? just write :) |

Krakow itself is a very safe place. Turism is very important there, so it is a very friendly city. Unless, of course, you decide to go to a soccer match between the two local clubs, Cracovia and Wisla. |

There's as much risk as in any other urban developing city but i've been there and had no problems |

If you go to any city you run the risk of being mugged. Always stay in public places and always stay vigilant at all times. I nearly got pick pocketed in Prague but I caught them at work and stopped it from happening. Im always alert in a new city I am visiting. Have a fun time there. |

I think all those people should be reported for an abuse, they only create stereotypes and make people think that Poland is a barbarian country!
I lived in Poland for 26 years and nothing bad happened to me neither to my friends who are foreigners, and not always white.
Krakow, Warsaw, Poland generally seems to me much safer that London, where I live at the moment or Paris, where I lived some time ago.
Try to google for statistics if you want a proof. |

You are afraid getting mugged in Poland but the risk is same as in any other city on the world if you don't know. |

My Wife and I were in Krakow last year and had no problems. There is a lot of petty theft and I wouldn't leave my car in an unsecured area but we felt much safer in Krakow then we did when visiting Los Angeles or Las Vegas.
Actually, the city where we had the most problems was Prague CZ. Stealing from tourists seems to be a national pastime practiced by businesses as well as the government. |

going any were in the world carries a risk of being mugged
just make sure you travel in area's with people in and try not to trave on your own into less used areas
other wise dont worry about it to much it will only spoil your trip
if you want some more information about Poland and were your heading for try the source details below and happy travels |

The greatest deterrent to theft is vigilance and awareness. If you make sure that you are aware of your surroundings, you shouldn't have any problems. Let your guard down, and you might get pick-pocketed. However, there is just as much risk of getting robbed in Krakow as there would be in say, Indianapolis or St. Louis or some other big city. Just be on your toes, and like some of the other people above said, try to solve your own problems and don't be quick to trust people. Be smart about it and stay aware. |

What is going on around were!
Everybody knows you can get robbed in any country. Your own or travelling.
Travelling around I even saw papers saying to be careful with thieves because the city was very cosmopolitan and at the last day I was stolen by a native. Ironical at least!
Trying to say to tourists to be careful with other tourists and at the end to be stolen by a native:)
People get robbed because they make it to easy for the thieves. Walk around with there camera in the hand or just live their mobile or laptop on a coffee shop table for a couple of seconds.
Is not worst or better anywhere.
Touristic and urban places are full of robbers everywhere. |
