"We talk to women and we ask them,
have you experienced violence? They
say no. Then we ask, have you ever been
slapped? Yes, of course. Have you ever
been beaten? Yes, of course. They tend
to understand violence as something
that requires you to go to hospital."

Turkey is a european country, and you should see the modern women out there. They would probably beat many of the american women in the beauty contest. Large Turkish cities are very loyal to women. so don't worry about it. |

I have lived in Turkey for 4 years and it depends on the area she is moving to. Also it depends on the religion but generally women are treated very well. |

Turkey is a very modern country and you have nothing to worry about. In fact, I love wearing a mini skirt in the summer over there, and nobody gives me dirty glances at all. In the US though, you wouldn't believe the number of pervs who try to stare at a girl in a mini skirt that it's ridiculous. Trust me, your friend will be fine. Just make sure to keep in touch with letters, msn, webcam, etc. |

All these Armenians and Greeks are giving people false information about Turkey. Most of the other just believe it, they know nothing about Turkey, but what they read here must be true.
No wonder the Armenian Genocide Lie was a huge success. |

Are you for real?
We are women from Turkey.
Do we seem like we are looked down upon?
You really have serious racism issues!!!
And you don't know Turkey at all. It seems to me you listen to a lot what people tell you and you are prejudiced this is uncultured. and i can't stand uncultured people.
Let your friend live her life i am happy for her.
Turkey is a great country. |

That's not true! They are more worth than where you live
and Turkish men pay them more respect than you are worth.
Just ask me, I love the way Turks are, I love Turkish men. |

Thats all false. I just got back from Turkey. Whoever told you that has never been there. They are just being prejudice against Turks because they are Muslims. Turkey was the best vacation of my life. And, I didnt stay in some peachy resort. I actually traveled all over Istanbul - not just Sultanahmet. |

Yes, I admit, many men look down upon me. I'm only 1.60.
And about my "worth", happily I have never been in a position to declare it for myself. Generally it is declared for me. :) |

I understand what you are up to but trust me it's not going to work. You know my dad always used to say, if it ain't worth doing, "don't do it". If it ain't worth doing right, don't do it. If it is worth doing, try and do it right the first time...but remember Murphys Law, and if it ain't right the first time...keep on trying :)
You are doing nothing but humiliating you and your "own nation"
Why don't you go grab a cup of coffee or tea and make yourself a ham 'n cheese sandwich, watch your fave TV show instead. And stop worrying about your VIRTUAL friend cus I know she doesn't exist. |

Do some research, don't just go by rumors.
Maybe ask people who have actually gone their how they were treated, or how they saw people around them were treated.
But don't over-worry.
I'm sure she'll be fine. |

I am married to a Turkish man and have been to Turkey to visit his family on numerous occasions. It is a more traditional way of life, ie the man works and the woman keeps house, but the women really don't get looked down on. I did get stared at a few times, but that is probably because i spoke and the places i went weren't exactly tourist places so they don't expect to hear English. Turkey is an ever changing place and women are far more liberated than you would think. I met a women police officer who was lovely, and the manager of a hotel we stayed in for a few nights was a woman. there are a lot more women choosing to work. your friend shouldn't have any real problems as i have found the Turkish people to be lovely, friendly helpful people. tell her to take the chance, after all if it doesn't work out the way she wants she can always come home. if she does stay at least you have a lovely country to stay in when you go and visit her |

what is it to you in the first place?
your friend is over 18 and a reasonable person, right?
why should she listen to stupid people's comments that Turkey is not sa safe place etc?
May be you are jealous of her? Becasue she's got the guts to follow her heart and you don't?
She3 has found a ture man: a Turkish and you still couldn't find any man? is this WHY you desperately try to keeep your best friend in handy?
STOP JEALOUSY... Be a real woman and then may be you'l have a man for you.
(I hear Americans might be so dumb that there are men who'd go EVEN for losers like you.
P.S. try your chances in yerevan if you'd like to make love with monkeys |

That's only in Muslim nations that have very strict religious laws. Turkey is not a Muslim nation if i recall correctly. Women are not thought highly as men are, but nothing to get overly worried about. |

Attention Turkish Women: If you're worth nothing back home, you are always welcome at my house! :DD
Seriously, I'm a little scared of Turkish women. I haven't met one yet who seemed shy or unable to give back better than what she was given. I get the idea that Turkish women would "wear the pants" in their household, but they know they look better in dresses! :)
The only reason I would look down on Turkish women is because I'm so unbelievably tall! :D |
