Should I be glad if my country wins a Eurovision Contest with a bad song?We should love MUSIC only, no ?...? |
I watched the Eurovision almost each year, because it was one of the only opportunities for Turkey to show his beauty t other countries...But I always thought it was just a fake contest, especially because of political alliances...They try to make us believe that the contest deals about music and art, but actually it's just an illusion.
Do you think that Finland is proud of their song who won last year ? Is it Art ?
Even when my country won the contest with Erener, I was disappointed because it was an horrible song.
I was glad when I knew that Kenan Dogulu would be the singer for Turkey, because I am a fan since his early moments ( Yaparim Bilirsin,etc...), and I appreciate his voice and many songs and harmonies (even though sometimes he did bad songs, just to earn money).
But when I heard the song "Shake it up"; I felt ashamed, because it's a garbage song.
Kenan is able to create beautiful songs, and he's going to sing for Turkey with this ridiculous one..How could I feel proud? Additional Details I wish he could sing songs such as "Haykiris", "Vurgunum Sana", "Agla", but he chosed a very simple disco song, with no real melody.
And I think english language was a bad choice, especially when we know that Kenan has a beautiful turkish...
People are going to vote for the country, or really for the music ?
In sports, there is no problem : the best wins because he runs faster or does more goals ...
But in music, it's immaterial thing, it's spiritual thing...We shouldn't prefer a song only on "country" factor...
We Turks have proved that we were honest, because we voted 12 points for Armenia's singer André last year, because we liked the song ( who looked so turkish, in fact...). And politics had nothing to do with it...
My opinion is that the most important is only MUSIC and ART...
Even if I am so so proud for being a Turk, I will not feel good if we win tonight...We don't deserve it...
Good luck to all countries... |

My friend Manisalibo, it hasn't always been like that, only during the last 10 years. This contest used to be a discent one, with nice songs and voices, the singers participating had to sing in their own language, there was less "show" and much more of taste. But singers who sung in their language did not have a chance to win, as the audience was familiar with international languages like english and french, so they had to add in the refrain some english words which made their songs of doubtful taste.
Simultaneouly the first alliances started appearing, like England - Ireland, Norway - Sweden, France - Monaco - Belgium, based at the begining on common or relative language and then on political motives. Greece - Cyprous, Russia - Ukrania, always England - Ireland...
That' why Italy denied to participate for years.
As for the quality of the songs, they are just products of our era... easy listening, impressive costumes, rythms and lyrics easy to remember...
As for Sertab, she was really the best when she won the first price, she is really a great voice, and in addition she is an opera singer... I love Sertab ....
Anyway, just visit our private greek-turkish yahoo group and you'll realize that we are looking forward to watching tonight's contest just for the "havale", having drinks and consuming snacks along with friends.... |

Actually at first,i hated the song shake it up sekerim.i thought myself we will be the last. but after a few months i got used to listening it and i ' ve changed my mind now i think we have a good chance this year!
Come on manisali how can't you like the song everyway that i can?
The first time i listened that song,i knew that we will be the winner! it's still populer around the world. |

What! Everyway That I Can was a wonderful song, I still listen it..

Arkadaslar...we should be happy that we qualified for Eurovision. After Rimi Ley, I didn't think that anyone would take Turkey seriously...then last year we had Superstar which was still bad, but still better then Rimi Ley...and we are getting better with Shake it up sekerim. It's a song that gets stuck in your head. I don't know much about politics, but their involved in everything...unfortunately. Wheather we win b/c of politics or b/c it's a real good song...at least we are getting people to know Turkey more and more. Kenan is a good singer and some people make good songs and sometimes they make bad ones...what can you do. For the record -- Sertaps song was fabulous and Atena was very good too. It makes me proud that we have won at least 1 Eurovision contest and insallah we will win more. Good luck Turkiye. May the best song win : ) |

in last 2 years, our songs were sucking... but this year, our song is a thousand times better than our last songs. also, in this year, our song is highly favorite song among the others.
if u dont like this song, write a song with beautiful words and a rhythm and join the music market :) what can u expect from an eurovision song? |

commerce my friend .same sentiments here when there were many indians who won the miss world and universe titles do you know who earned the most? it was the cosmetics and the dress designer firms since people thought applying a cream or lotion or buying a dress will make you one amoung them and there are many who still feel the same that a fairness cream will make them a world beauty. |

Qu'est ce que tu pense?
 |
He's simply trying to portray himself as a pop icon to the general public of Europe. Just because he's singing one garbage pop song doesn't mean he will continue to write his songs that way. He's only doing it to appeal to what the people want...and that is pop garbage music. So, be proud that Kenan is smart enough to know his audience and don't feel ashamed. |

Yeah buddy!
i think this song was average. However Shake it up sekerim teaches one word of Turkish to strangers ,the lyrics do not fill the song.İt s like it s based on the title.up to me TRT thought ''Ok This is it'' kind of flash in their heads.
we will see tonite the Armeniansjust before Turkey. our dear neighbours and lovely, kind brothers.
if they say any bad words about my comments i ll be a nasty boy again!
in 2005 we were better with i wanna bring you up. |
