Should I go to Turkey with my turkish friend?

Hi all,

I will have a vacation in about half year later and I want to travel to a different place beside usa and my country. My Turkish friend asks me if I want to visit his country...I'm a bit excited but I know no one in there except him (he is a nice funny guy) though. He said once I will be there I can stay in hotel or live in his mom's house (only his mom and his sister in that house) that way I don't have to pay for hotel $$ and he will drive me everywhere to his city. It sounds fun!!! Do you think should I go with him?

Anyways, it will bother them so much if I live in his mom's house. How much per night in a hotel for economic class lol? How do I spend money?? Thanks all for your honest answer

That's a great idea!!! I personally would recommend you staying with his mom because you would be way more comfortable and unless they are genetically challenged turks, they would welcome you like they have known you for years. If you don't feel that cmfy living with them after a while you can just act like you want to stay in a turkish hotel for a while too.
You wouldn't have much trouble with not knowing anyone except him in Turkey I'm sure he would introduce some people to you...Just know that people tend to sell things for more money in tourist areas, other than that you wouldn't have a problem... Have great fun, I'm going ther too, see you there!!!!

It DOES sound fun. I guess you are talking about Istanbul. Staying at the mom's house for a week wouldn't bother anyone I daresay. But you should be sure that the guy checked with his mom first. Not all young men are that considerate.

Yes you should. That's a very nice opportunity i think. Normally we don't know anyone when we visit a foreign country. But in your case you know someone and he volunteers to guide you.That will help you avoid the hard part of being a tourist and will give you the chance to see better places,have the best food etc.(your friend will advise the best to you i'm sure)

I don't know what city you are visiting but speaking for Istanbul,i guess you can find a cheap hotel for 50-60 US$. But,i'm sure your friend and his mom will insist you to stay over at least 1-2 nights.So depending on how long you'll be staying,you may not need a hotel at all.Don't worry,they will gladly host you.

I think you should go for it. You'll never regret it.

You should definitely go...This is a great opportunity and rest assured that you will be pampered during your stay in his house..Turkish hospitality is like no other, you will be surprised with the level of attention you will receive so I would suggest to stay in his house as it will be much more comfortable for you...As for Turkish Lira, you should wait until you arrive in Istanbul because you will be able convert American dollars in to Lira at a better rate.Here is a link below to help you calculate;

I don't think it's a really good idea. You might not like his mother or his sister and you'll have to stay with them for a whoooooole week. It's super nice you have him, to go together in different places ... it's not so safe to travel alone in Turkey, especially if you're a good looking woman!

no, he is a loser.. he should stay away from women or get married as he is a muslim maybe?
there is no such thing called dating in Islam, perhaps turks do not follow the Quraan, very very sad
