Should I go travelling with my parents to Croatia to go visit the place where my parents grew up?

The dilemma is I am 23, and travelling with my parents and grandmother and younger sister, is not always that exciting. Their idea of travel and fun is different than mine. But, it would be a cheap way to travel, since accomodations would be looked after and most meals. I'm not sure if I would regret either saying no and missing the opportunity to go see Croatia, or regret going on a long trip with my parents, and spend lots of time 'drinking coffee at auntie's house' and not seeing/doing things that I would like to do. Do I risk passing up the opportunity to maybe do the traveling on my own some day, or should I just make the best of it all and go with my parents?
Additional Details
PS. I am paying travel fare myself

You will, when you are older. look back at this trip as a special time with your family. Plus, if you haven't been to Croatia, you will love it. Your parents really want to show you where their family is from. Go, drink coffee with your aunt, who you may not see for many years, and be a good sport. you are an adult now, after all. Enjoy!

I'm not trying to knock you, but you sound very spoiled, immature and selfish not wanting to spend time with your parents because they're not exciting enough. Yes, I think you should go. You can learn a lot about your family history and your parents personal history. You may not get that opportunity again. If you do end up going later without them, you would not get the full story and the meaning of certain places. I think you'll regret it years later when your parents are no longer with you.

Go with your parents, with the idea that you are connecting with relatives that live where your parents grew up. Observe and relish the chance to learn about the culture thru "coffee with Auntie". Listen intently, and ask as many questions as you can. The people make the place. there will be plenty of time to "do what you like to do" later. Perhaps Auntie even knows a nice young person to take you out on the town....

make the best of it and travel with your parents.

traveling gives you insight to the world

I would never miss a trip anywhere anytime

even when I cannot afford to travel i do

the world is your oyster
go forth and investigate and learn and grow as a person.

go with your parents.
Get educated about the area before you go and suggest some cool things to do when you are there. If you show some excitement then your parents will go along or make sure that you have a good guide so you can enjoy some of the sights while you are there. You don't have to spnd 24/7 with the people you travel with- just make some concessions for each other and enjoy.

go for sure!

ive visited both of my parents' hometowns (i lived in funchal & visited valencia).. it was very great. you should go! especially since youve never lived there.

?
I think it would be a great honour to see where your life began , You should be proud of that and open your mind to what is important to you and your parents..

freedomtoast316
Boy it would be nice to be spoiled enough to reject a trip to another (interesting) country just because we wouldn't necessarily do what I wanted to do or because it would be "boring".

Update: Sure you are.

You should mortar their house just to remind them what Croatia was like during the war. It would almost be like traveling there with them, and it would bring back some great memories.
