Absolutely. It doesn´t make sense to have a person with so much power to be appointed by the govt. This doesn´t create stability, as sometimes claimed. It prohibits the democratic progress that Turkey would otherwise be able to make. |

Actually the whole election system in Turkey needs to be changed. With the present system, the party leader decides who will be at the top of the list, and they are elected. In turn they elect a president. Therefor, it is the party leader who elects the president, not the parliament, not the people. What kind of democracy is that? You do not even have the right to 'prefer' candidates on your party's list. |
