i think the Turkish PPL, have things to change in their mentality towards other countries and religions. They have to put aside the past and the conflicts from the past and try to live in the present.
They have lots of things to change before joining the EU, coz the EU won't tolerate appropriate behaviour |

I think that Turkey doen't have much of a chance of joining if Greece is so adamnant that it shouldn't and if it still has an ongoing record of mistreatment of minorities like the kurds. It would be very beneficial to turkey to join the eu, but first it needs to get its act together and improve relations with greece. hope that helped!
P.S. There are countries in the EU saying that Turkey isn't "European" enough. It'll be a while before Turkey gets to join, if at all. |

It will not happen because of their human rights abuse record. They would of course be the first muslim country to enter the EU - I think it will some time coming. Personally, I would worry about the effect this would have on immigration. |

It will happen because of the O word!
A pipeline is being build by bp, through the area of the Capsian Sea where Oil Drainage is taking place, Turkey is in this area and will play a crucial part distribution of oil via the Med Sea!
Feck all to do with human rights, their position in the world, etc, but OIL and CASH! |

I don't think it should.
For one, most of the Turkey lies in Asia. And there is loads of violence going on there... plus other issues. |

no, bad human rights record and also too many cultural differences for them to abide by EU rules.....ie halal food, islamic law etc..and also it they do, everybody who is able will leave Turkey and head to the UK for housing, education, free health care and benefits |

No I dont think that they should join the EU as mentioned earlier by other people it would be bad for the UK to take another hammering from people trying to take benefits etc of our government. You can see how many immigrants are already in the UK and thats before they have even joined the UK. I like Turkey and The Turkish people but I would say they should not come into the EU |
