Souviniers from Turkey....ideas?

My boyfriend is from Turkey and he just got back and brought me some great things. I would recommend her bringing you back some Turkish coffee and a cezve(turkish coffee pot). Also, some Turkish olives. They have lots of trinkets and things with the "evil eye" that is supposed to keep bad luck from you. Their linens are gorgeous and usually hand-made. Henna would be cool too. Ask for the red color. It's really neat looking. I got some pretty shirts from there. Just tell her to go to the bazaar and she will find any and everything!!! One more thing...ask for a tea or coffee set. Those things are gorgeous!!!

my boyfriend's family brought me back some gorgeous silver jewellery, it's fairly cheap over there.

Also, some lemon cologne... I love this stuff !!!! All turks use this as a refresher after washing hands, after a meal, etc.

Try to get her to bring you back something different that you don't use/have.. you'll appreciate it more :)

you can bring the beeds you know which protects from evel eye that blue beeds called nazar boncugu....
or can bring some apple tea!!

You can get several souvenirs that have the EVIL EYE on them. It also depends on where they are going. Copper pots, silver, leather, carpet are usually the souvenir choices in turkey but for $50 you will be in the range of EVIL EYE ornaments which is the symbol of Turkey. Now you can also get these table top ornaments. Since carpet making is so famous, they can get a little carpet weaving ornament for you and write your name on it, which will be about $10 - $50 depending on the size.

I would recommend getting apple tea and a nice traditional tea set. Textiles are nice, but it may be hard to find a carpet for such a low price. I came back from Istanbul yesterday, and we brought back earrings and purses for everyone. Fifty dollars is a lot to spend in Istanbul; you can bargain for anything.

I would recommend handmade silver jewelry (can be found cheaply, especially in South Turkey), evil eyes (glass ornaments for the home or fashioned into jewelry like necklaces or rings) Turkish tea sets are nice but could be difficult to transport home. Textiles are nice too-- you can find beautiful quilts and handmade things in the bazaars.

The key is: BARGAIN BARGAIN BARGAIN. The price is never what they tell you-- it's quite inflated.

50 USD will go a long way at the moment in Turkey, so you could get a few nice things. I would really recommend some jewelry or something equivalent that you can keep forever. Baklava or helva is delicious, but it will only last for a few days!!! Mmmm.

Well, if you accept perishables (and if bringing in food from abroad is not forbidden), there are always different kinds of traditional sweets. Turkish delight or Baklava or Helva... Or if you want healthier alternatives: Almond paste (marzipan) or hazelnuts or dried figs or dried apricots...

You should absolutely think about some textile products or glass made goods. Also there are some hand made small personal items like bracelet that you can buy..
