Taking my 1st ever flight, and going to Turkey?

Leaving next spring, I am so nervous.I have never been on a plane before. I will leave from New York, haven't decided yet to either stop in London and fly right into Ankara, or stop in Germany, then on to Ankara.

It's not as bad as you think. When you take off you will go really fast but its smooth you wont be jmping around in your seat and holding on super tight.
Then once your in the air it feels like you arent even moving. Cars and Trucks are 10x bumpier than most airplane rides. You might feel 1or 2 bumps from turbulance but they minor. And landing you will feel like little bumps when the wheels hit the tarmac. YOu will be fine!

BREATHE! Its all going to be ok. Fear and Panic are what make things seem worse than what they are. Prepare yourself ahead of time, dont let things surprise you. Airports will be imtimidating, but hey look at all the other people rushing to that next gate with you. Realize you're not alone, and remember, you can usually get help if you need it.

The ride, a true breezer! Popping ears? Chew on some gum or swallow occasionally. Uncomfortable seats? Well, thats airtravel for yah. It really isn't at all bad. I love airplanes! So exciting! Be postive about things and prepare yourself beforehand, and you'll have a pleasant enough trip!

Happy Travels!

you won't need winter clothes..we came back from Turkey on the 10th Nov and at no time was it even cool and indeed the week before we arrived it was 28c...it was my first trip outside Europe..although they are not in Europe they far prefer the Euro to their lira ..many Russians/Germans and Brits holiday in Turkey......you need to learn some Turkish"two Euro..very good price"...ok ok OK one Euro !!!!!.....ha ha...flying is a sinch

I hope that you'll arrive in Turkey in best of health and good mood. Be sure, you'll enjoy your stay in this beautiful country and forget all the possible trouble of flying just the moment you step down from the plane.
Still early, but i wish you all the best and a good time in Turkey.

wow, your first flight will be a long one. One thing to really keep in mind when booking your flight is making sure that your connecting flight does not leave shortly after your first flight arrives...to be running through the airport trying to catch your flight is very stressful, and of course if your first flight was delayed you might not make it, which leads to all kinds of problems.
For your trip...bring reading material and extra food in your carry on bag as the quality and quantity of airline food is not the best.
Once you land in Ankara i bet you will feel fine-good luck and enjoy your trip!

Stop in London first! Ankara is a great city. I love Turkey.

Are you afraid of the flight or coming to Turkey?

In either case, dwelling on your fear doesn't help. People can give themselves a phobia by dwelling on certain worries.

London-Ankara is two hours. Germany-Ankara is one hour. After crossing over the ocean, it doesn't really matter if you have a stopover in either places, really.

Have a nice flight.

Hey, why stay in ankara, is it because of work? You'll like it here. There are direct flights of Turkish Airlines and it is better than Delta airlines, you might want to check out www.thy.com.tr and book a direct flight to ankara from JFK. Nevertheless, it will be a looooong flight. In any case, hosgeldin!
