Questions&Answers

The Second World War?

Hi,
I would like to know what you think/know as to who contributed mostly to the victory over the Germans in the 2nd World War.

Was it the Russians or the British and Americans?

Or did they both contribute the most?
Who put a finale end to it?

Ive spoken to a few people and people seem to have different opinions on that....what do you know?

Thank you :)

The Allies. Stalin pleaded with Churchhill and Roosevelt that Russian couldn't do it alone and he was right. However in terms of loss, about 22 million Soviet citizens died during the war. That was more than all the other countries, plus Germany, combined.

Each country contributed. Without USA food, medicines and supplies Russia soldiers would have starved and not been equipped. Go to Moscow today and visit famous Victory Park and see all the Jeeps and Ford trucks and military equipment. Without Russian soldiers, the other Allies would have been in trouble. It was a joint effort and the Russian contribution was HUGE.

The first part of the war was worked on by the Russians the most. When the Russians were already in Berlin, then the Americans rushed up and "took their part" So officially, the war was won by all these 2 countries. But as far as efforts go, Russian Forces have made the most difference.

1. Soviets and by so far its unfair to put the other ones on the same line. Note its not just Russians as the USSR had other peoples although mainly it was Russians.

2. Brittish. For sitting back behind a body of water and absorbing German attacks.
3. USA for supplying rather then necessarily fighting. Then coming in at the end when Germany was using old men and young teenage boys as a last resort and fighting them.

technically Russia did more, but USA came right at the end and finished it, lol which is why people say that they won it. but Russia did most of the work.

ps. Russia NEVER cheered Nazis on, however they did offer money and weapons to them as form of peace agreement, except Nazis didn't follow up on the agreement and instead just took w/e was offered to them and attacked anyway. yes, Russia was pretty stupid for offering the goods to them, but as soon as they got attacked, they attacked back.

EDIT: Tolstoyevsky, u're a moron, that's what i was talking bout the agreement they made so Germans wouldn't invade USSR...that doesn't mean that they cheered them on, they were making a neutral agreement trying to make peace to keep their country out of it (don't forget that they had 14 other countries in USSR besides Russia they had to worry bout), obviously the treaty wasn't effective anymore as soon as Nazis attacked USSR.

Great question: the Russians stopped the Nazis in the East which made it a lot easier for the US+UK push later on that put an end to it

The war between russia(soviet union) and nazi germany in itself is the most brutal and chaotic war in human history. Over 20 million russians were killed. I can't clearly say the russians were the MOST important role in defeating germany, but they definitely faced the majority of germany's forces.

Let's not forget that the United States was fighting Japan simultaneously while it was fighting Germany. The fighting on the pacific theater rivaled the violence and brutality of the eastern front.

So America helped by economy,Russia done job by power.

25% of Belarusians were killed. In the USSR, people came from different countries to fight fascism.

The war wouldn't have been won without the USSR.

And of course, the Soviet Union had the biggest number of causalties in WWII - 26 000 000.

all three threw all the resources they had into it.It was a team effort that crushed the nazi reign over germany

Tolstoyevsky
My goodness! What a curious view of history Moscow is trying to get us to believe.

I suppose we are to ignore the fact that, without Moscow's support of Hitler, there would have Been no World War II; that while Hitler was slaughtering civilians in Europe, Moscow was cheering their Nazi friends.

We could also ignore the fact that the USSR was having its fuzzy backside handed to it while the Brits and Yanks were gaining ground in the west.

But, why ruin red propaganda with facts. If the moskal need a totally fictitious view of history in order to find something to help them feel good about themselves, who are we to deny them their fairy tales?

Oh, and by the way, reds: You're Welcome.

Due May 4th: First of all, congratulations. Second, take some of that recovery time to study. "Molotov-Ribbentrop" would be a good place to start. The Soviet Union was indeed cheering their beloved ally Hitler. They had a plan to divide Europe between them. Hitler was the willing subcontractor, and Stalin was the willing "krisha."
------
Ah. "Russian Neutrality." Other Russian fairy tales begin: "In a land far away lived a beautiful maiden..."

No, my dear, not a moron. Ukrainians firmly believed in marrying outside the family when it was still quite popular elsewhere...and obviously some outside the borders still cling to the "old ways."
