Variations of the root verb RHB (rahaba) may appear in the Quran. The root verb means 'to welcome' as in the measure VIII verbal noun 'irtihab,' which means (if my memory is correct) 'a welcoming.'

'Merhaba' as stated in most of the answers above, means simply 'hello' and the pronunciation varies slightly between Turkish and Arabic, and even among Arab countries. Usually, an Arab would spell it 'marhaba' in Latin characters, because that's more how he pronounces it. In very formal Arabic, it may even be said 'marhaban' because of a peculiarity of completing the alif sound with a nun sound in a lot of words.

It is derived from Arabic like so many others and it is used in Turkish language as "hello" or "hi ". It doesn't mean anything else for us. I am almost sure it is not in Quran, though..

We also use "Selam" (Salaam) from Arabic as a daily greeting.

"Hello" one of the few words I learned while living in Adana.

"Güle Güle" if you are staying and another is leaving, and when you are leaving when another is staying it is "Allahaısmarladık".

Merhaba is originally an Arabic word that entered the Turkish language (with thousands of others) through Islam and the Ottoman Empire taking control of the Arabic world.
It simply means 'hello' or 'hi'. I have not heard of it having any religious affiliation.

Like the others said it means hi,but selam is more common. Merhaba is not beign used when u meet a close friend, mostly it is used if u r meeting someone new, kinda formal. and as far as I read the word merhaba is not in quran
