Firstly, take a canal trip. The boats can be "caught" at several places around the town and they are easy to see. You do a round trip and see many of the sights which, if you wish, you can go to visit on foot later. Another tour, but quite expensive if by horse-drawn carriage which you can pick up in the Markt - that is, the central square. These are charged by the trip not by the person so it's cheaper to go in a group of four or even six. If there's just 2 of you, you could team up with another pair in the queue. You can get from hotels and the tourist office a brochure which gives a number of detailed walks around Bruges which include some of the more important tourist sights. Things to see include: the Bell Tower in the Markt, you can go up it), the Onze-Lieve-Vroukerk (church) which contains the only Michelangelo Madonna and Child outside Italy, The Chocolate Museum (near Markt) the Begijnhof, a beautiful quiet corner of Bruges, seen from the canal trip, which is essentially almshouse for the female pious, nuns. There is so much to see that it impossible not to enjoy your day. A good guide book is: AA Citypack; Brussels and Bruges (£6.99 WHSmith) or Directions - Bruges published by Rough Guides (also £6.99 at WHS.) Have a brilliant day.

I think the market days are on Saturday and it would be a bit cold for a canal trip the town square is very scenic and there are some good restaurants try the mussels! and then browse the chocolate shops

When I visited Brugge, I went to the center of the town, where there is an old church.
Near the canals,I also visited a museum, where you could see paintings, furniture, weapons from the Middle Age.
Finally, we sat down and ate in a restaurant above the canals (I think it was named Mozart or some other composer) which was relatively cheap and the food was excellent!

Here's the official website off the city of Bruges (Brugge).
If the weather is nice, I can strongly recommend a boat trip on the canals...
What else you'd like to see depends really on personal preference, but I'm sure you can make a selection with the website...

Take the time to find the Heilig Bloed Basiliek, -Basilica of the Holy Blood. It is tiny, but very beautiful. The relic of the Holy Blood is sometimes on display and you can actually touch it.
Take time to wander around the ancient streets, buy some lace and chocolate. Boat trip, visit the museums, churches, belfrey. There is more than enough to keep you occupied for a day.
Enjoy.

make love, climb up the Belfort, visit the bloodchappel, make a trip on the canals (reien), eat some chocolates, drink a few bears,... enjoy
