I wished that a Turkish Prime Minister would kneel down before the Tsitsernakaberd one day (http://www.euratlas.com/Atlas/armenia/erevan_monument.html) like the former Federal Chancellor of Germany Willie Brandt in 1970 in Warsaw (http://pix.sueddeutsche.de/ausland/artikel/600/88512/image_fmabspic_0_0-1160732723.jpg) and not before people like Gulbuddin Hekmatyar (http://www.kuvayimilliye.net/pic.php?id=687). |

Yes I feel very bad and may all innocent dead rest in peace.
"For centuries our forbearers have been living with you in peace and harmony...but recently your government, conceived in crimes, began to sow discord among us in order to strangle us and you with greater ease. You, people, did not understand this diabolical scheme of politics and, soaking yourselves in the blood of our brothers, you became an accomplice in the perpetration of this heinous crime. Nevertheless, know well that our fight is not against you, but your government, against which your own best sons are fighting also."
That was said during the 1896 ottoman bank takeover. Gives you an idea how long this problem was going on. This sounds like someone demanding justice to me rather than a bloody terrorist. |

Very disturbing question. |

Various quotes by Turkish leaders, beginning with multiple quotes from the three rulers of wartime (WWI) Turkey:
Enver Pasha
One of the triumphalism rulers publicly declared on 19 May 1916...
"The Ottoman Empire should be cleaned up of the Armenians and the Lebanese. We have destroyed the former by the sword, we shall destroy the latter through starvation." Enver Pasha
In reply to US Ambassador Morgenthau who was deploring the massacres against Armenians and attributing them to irresponsible subalterns and underlings in the distant provinces, Enver's reply was...
"You are greatly mistaken. We have this country absolutely under our control. I have no desire to shift the blame onto our underlings and I am entirely willing to accept the responsibility myself for everything that has taken place."
--------------------------------------
Talat Pasha
In a conversation with Dr. Mordtmann of the German Embassy in June 1915...
"Turkey is taking advantage of the war in order to thoroughly liquidate (grundlich aufzaumen) its internal foes, i.e., the indigenous Christians, without being thereby disturbed by foreign intervention."
After the German Ambassador persistently brought up the Armenian question in 1918, Talat said "with a smile"...
"What on earth do you want? The question is settled. There are no more Armenians."
Cemal Pasha
To a German officer upon seeing the deportations in Mamure said...
"I am ashamed of my nation (Ich schame mich fur meine Nation)."
Minister of the Interior of Turkey publicly declared on March 15 that on the basis of computations undertaken by Ministry Experts...
“1.5 millions Armenian deportees were actually killed... by holding the guilty accountable the government is intent on cleansing the bloody past."
It is sad and shameful. |

Its pathetic, the same things happened to the Assyrians by the turks, mainly to try and wipe out our cluture and forced islam upon christians with a weapon, how peaceful ,not. Thousands of people were abused in unhumane ways. And Still in this day tHEY DENY IT, grow some courage and atleast admit, have some respect for those poor people who did NOTHING wrong. Its so sad, so sad, and you can call it genocide or a massicre, lives where still taken. One day this will be put to light and the lost lives will have their identity acknowleged. The Turks deny the term 'genocide', well this is what its called, in addition to that bull why dont they work around the term "torture" and say that what they did didnt fit the term? Stop this man, stop trying to make the turks past actions seem so valid. This world is so unjust. Everyone Knows that it happened its funny how its still denied. |

I am Armenian and disagree with many of the Turkish responses. It was a Genocide. Most definately. A Genocide is when everything is planned out to slaughter a group of people. The Armenians were the Turks' goal. They identified the Armenians as their goal. Then they planned out how to harm them in the most brutal ways, first by killing the Armenian leaders and intellectual individuals. Turks deny that even when the proof is right there, the whole world knows it. A Genocide is a mass killing and INTENTIONAL killing of a race. A conflict does not lead to mass persecution and continual opression of a group. Remember Hitler? He persecuted the Jews because he hated them. What does it matter how many years after it was. That was considered a Genocide and so was the Armenians' case because it took one group of people to organize a horrid massacre. I don't beleive anything the Turks say on this page because they hate us Armenians. They think they are so strong? Yet they cannot even admit something that happened 93 years ago? You Turks are afraid because you know you will have to pay us back for your misdeeds. You are only afraid so don't deny the Genocide when more than half the world already knows the true facts of its occurance. You are only hurting yourselves the more you deny because the world will see you as cowards and nothing more. |

I totally disagree with the answerer above me. You can get as technical as you like, but the reality is that the Turks attempted to WIPE OUT the Armenian race. Hate to burst your bubbles, but the TRUTH HURTS. The Turks attempted this massacre. Hate to burst your bubble again, but... gen·o·cide
–noun the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group.
www.dictionary.com
Do you still stand by what you said? So post your stories or whatever you have, but IT HAPPENED and WE'RE NOT GOING TO FORGET IT... not one piece of this History is going to be forgotten..
SOOOO... stop being so ignorant, get your facts straight, and study some history. IT'S CALLED THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE!!!!!! it's been written down, shouted out, and printed in text... |

you are in mistake because it isn't genocide , it is only massacre between two people who live in peace , during 600 years .
this is not fairly that you post your question with the word "genocide ".

R.I.P AKOPYAN AKOP!
Dashnagtzoution was overturned.(1920)
Dashnagtzoution was overturned.
The house God damned tyran lived was destroyed.
He throttled the people during thirty years.
Drunk the blood of Armenians.
During thirty years like a cruel spirit
Settled down over my country.
Scattered death ,demolished all,
Sowed thousands of graves.
(...)
Dashnagtzoution was overturned.
We’re digging him into the rubbish to eternity.
We’re making a black coffin for him
By breaking down the arch of jail.
As ,under black arch
Throttled people cruelly
By entering that jail a few time ago
With the power of government.

The Turks deny the term 'genocide'; they don't deny the tragic events which happened in 1915.
Tragic events and atrocities were mutual, on both sides.
'Tragic' in every sense of the word but not unusual as it is always the case with desperate war time conditions.
Let me remind you that it was WW1. Ring any bells?
Turkey believes that past events, especially controversial periods of history should be left to the historians. Not to politicians and lobbyists.
A pretty enlightened approach, isn't it?
In order to find a solution to this age old hatred and biased opinions of some Armenians, The Turkish Government has opened all its archives, including military records.
A pretty scientific approach, isn't it?
" In 2005, Turkey officially proposed to the Government of Armenia to establish a joint commission of history, composed of historians and other experts from both sides to study together the events of 1915 not only in the archives of Turkey and Armenia but also in the archives of all relevant third countries and to share their findings with the public.
Unfortunately, Armenia has not responded positively to this initiative. "
I wonder why?
(By the way, not only the Republic of Turkey but also the United Kingdom denies the Armenian genocide.) |

That's sad, terrible..., but the Turks haven't to say sorry since they're not guilty, at least the turks of nowadays. We musn't blame them about things from the past. No nation is completely innocent, but we haven't let the spectre of the past keep chasing us. What happened just happened. Now we have to look at the future.
I won't recognizing the Armenian genocide or deny it, I'm not into that. I know very little about it so I prefer not to judge.
Peace 4 everybody. |
