A couple of other people have already given you links to sites with information. The #119 bus is very easy if you're staying in the old town. This is by far the cheapest (20 CZK) way to get to the city. There's a ticket booth in the airport just before you go outside. You can buy tickets on the bus if there's a long line, but it's a little cheaper buying them inside. The bus stop is along the road outside the airport. Just stamp the ticket when you get on the bus. The last stop (about 20 min) is the metro station. Your ticket is good for the metro ride into the city too. This is the end of the metro line, so the trains only go in one direction from here. If you're staying near the Old Town Square or Male Namesti, the best stop is the 3rd one (Staromestka). This will put you along the river near Charles Bridge (with a good view of the castle). It's a few blocks walk away from the river to reach Old Town Square. If you're staying near Wenceslaus Square, you want the 3rd (Mustek) or 4th (Muzeum) stop at the two ends of the Square.

Do not take the taxis or the other transport services unless you're willing to pay 10 to 20 times the price of the bus ticket. Some of the shuttles just run to Republic Square anyway rather than taking you to your hotel. There are a lot of taxi scams in Prague.

Hi, I am from Prague, you can take 119 bus to DejvickГЎ subway station, but you must be aware that there are pickpocketers, but I'm sure that applies everywhere in the world. Another bus is 100, but I doubt it goes to DejvickГЎ, I think it goes to a different subway station, though.

I've been to Prague twice and both times I arranged for the hotel to sort out a car to come and pick us up from the airport. It came to just under в‚¬30 the last time, the journey was 40 minutes, and I was happy with this because normal taxi drivers in Prague are notorious for fleecing tourists.

Once you're there, go to the nearest Tabak and ask for a public transport pass for 1, 2 or 3 days - these are incredibly good value and you can use them on all the trams, the metro and the funicular up Petrin Hill. Just don't forget to 'ping' them the first time you use them, and don't be tempted to use the public transport system without paying, there are plainclothes inspectors riding them all the time and you could very easily get caught and have to pay a hefty fine.

It's really easy, I have done it myself. There are lots of buses and trains. You'll be fine! Ask at the tourist desk for a travel ticket. You can get a 5, 7 or 14 day pass, they are the best value.

The bus and then the metro to wherever you're staying in Prague is probably the cheapest. The busses aren't the easiest system but that's probably just me, however the metro is brilliant!

Although the bus is cheapest - I'd sort out a pre-booked taxi. There's nothing worse than messing around after a long flight waiting for buses or haggling with taxi drivers. Especially when you can do this for about ВЈ20 each way (ВЈ40 for the taxi return). Try http://www.keytransfers.com/.

Take a Taxi even if you get overcharged its a bargain compared to the regular rates people pay in N America. I pay $ 70 to get to the Airport so whats the big deal if a taxi in Prague charges you between $30-$50 for the same service, most taxi drivers in Prague are honest, and tipping is not a custom.

Prague airport is actually quite far outside the city and is not linked to the city via rail.

As such it is a haven for taxi companies who regularly try to overcharge tourists who do not know any better.

I am not familiar with the bus and tram routes but my guess is that they would take a long time so here is my advice for getting a taxi.

Before you head outside go to the central Taxi desk in the airport and ask the assistant for his/her advice about the price of the taxi to your hotel. The cheapest you are looking at is 600 crowns which equals approximately $33 / 23 EUR / ВЈ16. The most you should be paying is 750 crowns which is about $41 / 28 EUR / ВЈ20.

The assistant at the airport will give you a Taxi Discount Voucher that will entitle you to a small discount (I believe 15%) on your return journey back to the airport as long as you book one day in advance and show the voucher on the day.

The journey itself takes approximately 20 - 30 minutes depending on which part of Prague you are heading to. You will descend into the river valley, cross the river and straight into the city centre if your hotel is central and it is quite a pleasant journey.

Finally, taxi firms are reputable and I have had no problems nor have I heard of any problems when using them.

I went there and left the airport via a hotel shuttle bus ( mini-buses) that has an upfront charge ( although I'm sure you pay at the end as my driver got into a scuffle with some Isralai girls who only had US dollars and and not local currency at their destination!)...I think I worked it out to be around 7GBP... I can't remember ( I was working in the UK and it worked out for me to be a quite good exchange)...but I was not feeling well and it took be directly to my hotel, which was not in the centre. These were situated directly outside the front entrance to the aiport.
There is a bus ( metro bus) thats easy to find ( I 'm pretty sure its directly opposite the main entrance to the airport) and travel in Prague is cheap compared to other cities so its not that much. THey seemed to be regular.
I would not bother going with taxis...as you will not know the cost upfront....
Its up to you to decide what will suit you best.
