Traveling alone fro the first time?

Ok, i live in Paris, and will be taking BA from Charles de Gaulle to Hethrow. The flight is an hour and a half long. I am 14, and will be traveling alone. We already bought the tickets, but im a bit scared. I will not have a chaperone/attendant to lead me. Any advice for not getting lost?? Or any advice for finding my gate easily?? And i cant really ask, cuz they will only speak french.
Is heathrow airport easy to travel around and find your way?? PLEASe be HONEST with me!! Thanks!!

Heathrow airport is massive so is Charles de Gaulle. Make sure you give yourself enough time to get to the gate to board on time. Look for signs which telling you where you gate is. If you worried about getting lost then i would reccomend just going to find the gate and then not straying to far away from it. I dont think your flight will be an hour and a half. I flew to there to birmingham (BHX) and that was only 1 hour. When you get to heathrow I suggest that you should just follow the rest of the people who have got off your plane as everyone will be going to the same place (Passport control). From there it is easy to find your way.

The great thing about speaking English is that most, if not all, airports in the world have staff that speak English. So, don't feel embarrassed by asking a member of staff the way to your gate.

My advice would be to just be very vigilant and make sure you know which gate you're boarding at and find your way there - you should have a the very least 30 minutes to find it. Then when you get to London you should just follow the crowd to get your luggage and then out of the green channel, where I'm presuming you have someone to collect you?

Travelling along is scary the first time, but once you've done it you'll be jetting off everyone by yourself. Just remember it's ok to ask for help.

All airports have signs written in more than one language. Don't be nervous. Find out the number of your gate and follow the signs. If you need to ask someone for help...then ask. I'm sure they will be willing to help you.

Ertai2
Sure, just follow the signs, most all countries have english. It doesnt matter how old you are, everybody has to use the signs cause they dont know where to go in the airport either =). Just keep looking up and follow the arrows. You'll be able to figure it out. There will be people around to help you if you need it.

The best advice I can give is dont be nervous. Enjoy your flight. To help with the getting lost: call the airline before you arrive and ask for the designated gate for your flight. It may change, but it shouldnt change by more than one or two gates. Good luck and enjoy.

Dog
Look at the maps at the airport. Since gates are numbered the language won't be an issue. They tell you your gate number when you check in. Don't worry, just get there early enough to find your way around. And you would be surprised how many people can actually speak English at an airport.

Traveling around Heathrow is easy. Are you getting off and staying in London? If so, just follow the signs to baggage pick up and immigration where they will check your passport. Be patient- lines don't move very fast. As far as speaking English- they will in Heathrow for sure :), and the flight attendants/personnel at CDG will probably speak some English too.

Idiocrassy Master. Own up. (:
14 and just now flying by yourself? not that big of a deal so don't get all nervous about it. actually it's really fun to fly by yourself since you can play your music s loud as you want, ask for however many cokes, etc.
and on not getting lost just look up at the signs that tell you which gate to go to often. maybe when you find your gate and have made sure you know where it is get something to eat or have a drink at starbucks. eating food for me kinda takes my mind off stuff and makes it easier. unless you get plane sick.

Well, first of all, take a map of the airport already. I'm sure they have an English version. This will come in handy on the day that you're traveling. Find the information counter if you get lost. They're bound to speak English because of all the foreigners coming along to visit. And if you can't find that, you can always look for someone who is speaking English and politely ask them for directions. :) Good luck to you on your trip. :) Be safe.

Are you scared to lost your way in Heathrow or in Charles de Gaule ?
Anyway the airlines employees usually speak english. As a 14 yrs. old you should ask the airline company to have a flight attendant to guide you and take care of you.
And YES Heatrow and Charles de Gaule are complicated places to find your way through.

get a small travel map or a phone with directions. there will be signs that tell you where to go but definitely get a small map that you can understand easily. that will make your time 20X more bearable. also try to learn a little bit of the language before you go. there are many places online you can do this free.
