Turkey - have you been there? Where would you recommend?

We like a quiet/rural/coastal location a short walk from a village or small town with a couple of bars and restaurants and a few shops. Self catering in a villa with pool. Any suggestions?

If you want really quiet and small - you could try KaÅŸ. It's right on the sea, very picturesque with cobbled streets and a town square. There aren't many villas (that I know of anyway), but there are self catering apartments, and as you're right on the sea you may not need a pool.

It's one of Turkey's most unspoilt resorts, and unlike most other places you don't get hassled by business owners. It's a bit more expensive than larger resorts, but that's a good thing if it stops the hordes from spoiling it.

There are some lovely tea gardens, with plenty of shade, and you'll be sitting alongside locals rather than just tourists.

Neighbouring Kalkan is also nice, but not quite as pretty.

The main drawback of Kaş ıs the hill down to the harbour / square. Anyone not very mobile would find this a problem.

I live in Turkey.

Ok, if your looking for something that bit quieter, you could try Bodrum, its lovely down there, its still touristy dont get me wrong, but not half as touristic as say Marmaris or Alanya. Just outside bodrum is a place called Bitez, which is a small rural place and within say 20 minutes of Bodrum which has soe lovely little villas you could stay in.

Another place you could try is Side, its close to Alanya, but about 30 mins away, its a small town and has some beautiful hotels and reasonably priced. Its by the sea, and while busy, not smothering like Marmaris.

Marmaris is a lovely place too, but i feel you are looking for something a bit quieter.

Istanbul is amazing, although very busy, its a beautiful city to see, so as a weekend break, i would recommend that. Also, nearly all the hotels here are self catering or half board.

If you have heard of anywhere else in mind, feel free to ask. x

Gűllűck - 20 minutes drive from Bodrum Airport. Lovely quiet fishing village. Just turn up and ask around for places to rent.

i'd say Assos/behramkale it's quiet small and historical town on the Aegean sea you can find many tasty food ,local wine, bars, some expensive restaurants, traditional stone coloured houses you can imagine why aristotle lived there for three years :)

Mr Abba
I haven't been there but my sister has. She enjoyed her time there very much. I would like to go there too because its a beautiful place. My sister went to Marmaris.
