Turkey or Croatia - where would you go?

My Fiancee and I are arranging a small wedding in Greece (Santorinia) in September. We're trying to figure out where we'll go after our stay in Greece so we can book our travel arrangements. I've always wanted to visit Turkey, and we've also heard a lot of great things about Croatia in recent years.

I would appreciate any thoughts on Turkey vs. Croatia, and also insight into what to expect in each. I get that Istanbul is a big, vibrant city - not exactly what we'd like for our entire honeymoon, but to the extent that we're in the region, it seems like it would be a waste to miss. Any insight into beach destinations in Turkey would also be appreciated.

We will fly into Athens prior to our wedding, and we're trying to figure out where we'll be flying out of for our return flight. Thanks in advance for your help and insight.

I'll have to say... Turkey...for obvious reasons :)

If you wish to learn more about Turkey, please ask a question in Yahoo Turkey section in order to get more detailed information.

Congratulations of your wedding in advance

OMG!!!! That sounds wonderful! I don't even know you and I want to see pictures!!! LOL!! I have always wanted to go to Santorini. It sounds like a wonderful place for a wedding. You are very lucky!

I would choose Turkey to visit. I really do not know much about Croatia, but I hear Turky is wonderful. You could visit the ruins of Troy!!!!

Look at the political situation, first - my mother comes from the island of Cyprus, where the Turks took all of the good land and shops away from the locals, so I would NEVER choose Turkey. Do what makes you happy, to have the best memories. Have a healthy and happy new year.

I don't really know details, but there is a girl I know who lived in Turkey for most of her life. She told me about it, and it seems like a really really neat place. Being on the Mediterranean sounded like it was nice.

Congratulations.

Tourism in Turkey is well organized. Unfortunately I don't know much about Croatia, but Casino Royale had stunning views of Montenegro. Maybe that place deserves to be considered, too.

i have never been to turkey, but croatia is absolutely beautiful.
they have so many wonderful cultural sites and the nightlife is fantastic. the locals were so friendly when i went there and its not too expensive. id recommend going to dubrovnik's old town. you can do a fabulous tour of the town walls. the food there is great too cause its just beside the sea and you can get fresh shellfish.
