My wife & I took a month vacation in Turkey 11 years ago and loved it. It was the best vacation we've had. The Turkish people in every part of the country were exceptionally friendly, I loved the food, and the ruins were beautiful. We sailed on a gulet for a week near Marmaris, and visited Istanbul, Ephesus, Antalya, Alanya, Konya, Cappadocia, Ankara and my favorite, Trabzon. Everything someone could want in a vacation can be found in Turkey. I can't wait to return some day. |

I can understand your enthusiasm, but for me Istanbul is too noisy, too crowded and dirty. I guess you haven't seen other cities or places in Turkey. The Mediterranean coast rocks too. But the Black Sea coast rocks them all hun. Ever been to paradise??? If not, visit easter part of the Black Sea region of Turkey. |

So we can also say that Istanbul is not Turkey...
Of course it's beautiful,cultural,strategical, etc... But you can't seriously forget the other cities and other regions...It's a question of respect... |

Yes, Istanbul is surely the most beautiful city in the world. (uh-oh my nationalist Turkish side talking again! :) )
Nah, really, it is the best city for me. It's like taken out from a fairy tale. When I was little my favorite book was "Grimm Fairy Tales" Istanbul is the place where the good-hearted poor girl finds the prince :)
edit: Alright so you guys don't like Grimm brothers. But c'mon why three thumbs down?! |
