One of my Turkish Muslim friend is married to a Turkish Christian Armenian guy for 16 years. We, as Yahoo Turkey section, may experience one marriage like that shortly, also :)

I've never heard of that though I think it might happen if there's the love.
I'm Armenian. No we don't hate Turks.
Last week Turkey played soccer game against Armenia in Yerevan, it was a fair game and no tension happened in the stadium between people.
Surely, the situation would be different if Armenians hated Turks.

Unfortunately, the Armenian-Turkish married people I have met, the women were Armenian, and they didnt actually admit that. I found out "through the grapevine". I think it really depends on the individual and where they stand politically, if they can agree on some things there's no reason for why they shouldnt have successful mixed marriages. Someone like me, I have no problem with any nationality because I believe that with an open mind and love between 2 people no country or policy or even social environment can divide us. If we are strong as a couple, we will teach our environment how to treat us, not the other way around.

I know of a Greek and a Armenian Marriage, and I know before the Young Turk Revolution it wasn't too uncommon, because a lot of Turks have Armenian blood in them.

I don't think that there is any problem, as long as neither party is very religious. Other than religion, Turkish and Armenian people are strikingly similar in other cultural and characteristic aspects, warm behavior, food, and such. I have more than once made the mistake of asking an Armenian person if he/she is Turkish, though luckily they were not offended at all and laughed it off...

I agree though that it is a curiosity why we don't hear so much of such marriages. Maybe it is as the others above have said that when such a marriage happens in Turkiye the Armenian spouse sometimes keeps his/her ethnicity on the down-low. Unless you explicitly ask someone from Turkiye directly "Are you Armenian?" or "Are you Kurdish?" it is very difficult to know if they are.

Well, at least we know though that one such marriage might be coming up, where the girl is a proud Armenian and the guy a proud Turk -- no hesitation from either side expressing who they are. :D

Even though we have hate for the turks, some people don't care about that. There are marriages between us, but not alot of people approve of them...since..well because of the genocide.

It would be very rare. I personally do not know of any. Only an uninformed Armenian would commit such a crime.

I know one marriage between a Turk and Armenian. Sevan NiÅŸancÄ±yan, who is an Armenian and writer of Agos, is married with MÃ¼jde NiÅŸancÄ±yan. They are going to divorce and it is the Armenian guy's fault. It is impossible for me tell the disgusting thing he did to his wife.

I'm sure there are in the Turkish Armenian community here. They just don't advertise the fact, I think.

Turks don't hate Armenians. But we don't take their insults with silence, either. Respect a Turk if you want respect in return.
