Turkish PM Erdogan and the Davos Incident, what are your views?

At the Davos International Meeting, Turkish PM stormed out angrily after the moderator didnt allow him to speak during a debate whereas he gave 25 mins to the Israeli Simon Peres and only 12 mins to the Turkish Prime minister. Utter discrimination

Turkish PM: "Peres, you are raising your voice because you're trying to hide your guilt, i would raise my voice too and i could if i want, but in terms of respect i am not going to... You (Israel) know very well how to kill people, i know how you kill babies ... The Torah says: Thou Shall not Kill, but killing is taking place (by Israel)."

When Erdogan attempted to continue his argument the Moderator kept cutting his talk and frustrating the PM, not letting him finish.. Erdogan angrily left Davos vowing to never return after stating he only got 12 mins but Peres got 25 mins to speak. He was greeted by thousands in Istanbul with a 'Hero welcome'..

What do u think about his reaction?

His reaction was inevitable. But only cowards would sit back and digest what the jews were putting in scene (both moderator and perez) Perez was sitting there making his countrie`s terrorist attack on civilians sound like self defence. As the whole World knows Gaza is an open air prison and it is like putting people in a gas chamber when you shut the borders and drop bombs on them. That is what Israel did, while his citizens were standing together with the journalists and watching the bombs go down on Gaza and at the same drinking cola and applauding each strike.
If a million people had gathered in Istanbul and protested against the Israeli attacks, it would not have made the same impact as this one man on that stage in Davos achieved. He is a hero.

AWS
His situation in Davos was great because they allow to perez talking 25 minutes while they don't allow Erdogan to talk , despite Perez was supporting the crimes of his children , while Erdogan was supporting the children victims.

Frankly, I don't really appreciate our current leader ( I am not supporter of AKP).

BUT I agree 100% with what he did in Davos.

I also want to say that I am very disappointed by the behaviour of some of my fellow Turks here and there, who seem to say only what the " to be politically correct " rule seems to make them say.

It's not AKP that stood up in Davos against the international hypocrisy, it's TURKEY...
And yes, I am proud because we showed that we care for the innocent...As descendants of the Ottoman Empire that ruled this region regardless of its subjects' religion, as descendants of the Ottoman Empire that saved the Spanish Jews, as citizens of a of the Republic of Turkey that saved thousands of Jews escaping from Nazis, as citizens of the Republic of Turkey that even helped Jews accomplishing their settling in the " Holy Promised Land", we had the legitimate right to protest...
I will just ask to people who easily criticize this "innappropriate behaviour" of our leader : WHAT DO YOU THINK ATATÛRK WOULD HAVE SAID AND DONE IF HE WAS IN DAVOS? HE WOULD HAVE BEEN CERTAINLY EVEN THOUGHER, BECAUSE HE WAS A MAN OF JUSTICE...HE WOULD HAVE SPOKEN LOUD TOO

Anyone should remember that we are not just a common country, we are TURKEY...
GREAT COUNTRIES HAVE GREAT RESPONSABILITIES...

And Sultan.Murat, aferin sana, çok güzel konuştun, bravo !

The truth is that jews have been crying "WOLF"since the holocaust of ww2..but in fact iam sick and tired of jews crying wolf.. they calim that 6and half million jews where either displaced or take to concentraion camps to be exterminated.. well that is an atrociciety and yes hitler did the horrible thing.. but hitler also killed "48 million RUSSIANS"during the war...did i ever hear russian crying wolf? did u ever hear rusian crying wolf? nooooooo...so why do jews think they have the right to cry wolf for so long its been 60 years now enough is enough... i mean... the second world war.. was a blessign in disguse for the jews... THEY GOT A COUNTRY OUT OF IT.. they also controll all of hollywood, they controll all the diamond traders in the world, and they have many fingers in many pies all over the world..so why do you still cry wold ?JEW? WHY? i suppusoe they want the oil as well hey...and water supply..lol..jew i think it time to be thank full for what you have and let countrys like PALASTINE ESTABLISH IT SELF AND STOP PUTTING SANCTIONS ON IT..LET PALASTINE BECOME A NATION AMONG NATIONS....if you did the same to my country i would also be a fighter agaisnt a country that is.vendictive and wants to kill all my poeple and on live tv for GOD, SAKE... and u seem proud of it too.. you even have the gull to santicfy your soldiers atrocitys as defence?..SHAME ON YOU ISRAEL SHAME.. .... i did have some respect for jews now its gone completeley out the window... .. AND YOU KNOW WHAT!!! ...THE WORST ENEMY OF THE JEW ...IS THE JEW HIMSELF...

Well, I previously answered this question by another user in this section, but I'll repeat my opinions. I think Erdogan did the right thing. First off, it wasn't fair that the Perez received more time to speak. When Erdogan commented upon that, I thought it was legitimate that he addressed this. I also think it was heroic of him to stand up against Perez about the killings. If politicians are going to ignore the atrocities done by the Israeli government, then what's the point of having governments? They're there to protect us. Who else is going to stand up for a woman who lost her child in the bombings? Who's going to stand up for the young boy who lost his brother? I think it was very noble that Erdogan said something. It's better than doing nothing at all.

I always thought it was a shame that Turkey voted against Algerian independence and in favor of France in 60s. So, it makes me happy that the PM could stand up for what is right no matter what the cost, rather than what is politically or traditionally more appropriate. He was also right to leave the panel discussion, I mean was there a point to sit down like a dog after the moderator refused to allow him to rebut Peres' criticism?

But that's it. Hamas is still a terrorist organization. He should have criticized it too, instead of putting all the blame on Israel. Both Hamas and Israel must stop aiming at civilians.

cpinatsi
What he said was true and well said, although I think it is wrong to bring arguments based on the Torah or any other religious saying-we go by the international law, not religion.

However, it is a childish reaction to storm out of there. Politicians must keep their temper and remain within the international organisations.

Also, if he was so much against Israeli policy, he shouldn't support so much USA policies that support Israel.

mete
it is easy to say he has gained popularity(internationally and in turkey)

Smell of danger is coming to my nose..
The Moderator was unfair, Tayyip was right to defend Palestine BUT
I think his aim was different.
And the events (people welcomed him as a hero, the east clapped him) after this scare me.

No matter how many minutes
he had to speak, those minutes were
vital, and he used his few minutes
of glory to secure he get a hero hat
when he returned toTurkey,
unfortunately though he had to exploit
those poor Palestine's who are dying
to achieve this, cause really, they are all no
better off today then
they were before the turkish PM's
12 minutes expired, but it sure looks
like he did get his little hero hat anyway.

Keyser
This will blow over soon anyway and become forgotten.

Already answered this twice, but ill do it one more time.He was right to try to speak his point, its a summit after all,but storming out is maybe a bit un-diplomatic.

This summit was about Israel not about kurds or armenians ect,so stop trying to cause trouble(user above).

Erdogan is a BAD president whos party is rooted in islam,i hope he goes sooner rather than later.

Erdogan is a little hypocrite and should care more about the injustices in his own country, particularly the injustices against Turkish children.

One of such injustices the fact that the President of the Republic married his wife when she was only 15 years old. In other countries such a thing is called pedophilia.
