I've been in the Ukraine a few times. Different culture but still a very nice country to visit. Use to be poor but now they are with the EU they catch up with everything.

Since my family is originally from there, Yes, I would love to fly there and try to find family and do the geneology thing. Finding family is quite difficult when your parents are deceased as well as the grandparents and you only have 1 document to go on!

I think it would be a great way to let the children learn the culture as well.

I usually fly to Poland and then get a train into Ukraine. It's cheaper because budget airlines fly to Poland, but not (yet) to Ukraine.

Do you want the routing? You can fly direct from London, either Heathrow or Gatwick to Kyiv by Ukraine International, or via Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt, or Zurich, this airline is fully accredited by IATA. So BA, Air France/KLM. Lufthansa and Swiss also fly there. Another Ukrainian airline called AeroSvit flies direct from Birmingham to Kyiv.

I have flown to Kyyiv, but had more enjoyable travel by flying into Budapest and taking a train from there. I like trains more anyway, and the trip through the Carpathian Mountains was beautiful.

I would love to go back!
