Barcelona is supposed to have the best quality of life - fabulous architecture, arts, restaurant, beach.
It really depends what you're looking for.

Amsterdam is nice - easy to find your way around, nice people, picturesque, arty.

Otherwise, you can't beat London. Does that count as Europe? Free entry to world-class museums, fabulous shops, any cuisine you fancy, parks, nightlife, public transport. Brilliant at Christmas when they close Oxford Street to traffic & everyone just strolls.

I reckon you should go to France, " Paris " in particular, would be my own choice, I've never actually been myself, but it's reported to be such a romantic place. hope you enjoy wherever you go !!

Oooh I don't know, depends what you like doing, where you live.

There are lots of places to visit in Europe, Blackpool, Alton Towers, London, Manchestr, Birmingham, Edinburgh to name just a few....

if you want something that seems exotic you could go further afield (say continental Europe), you could make a total prat of yourself in the former Eastern European countires like Poland, Czech Republic, you could go to somewhere (relatively) hot like Spain, Southern Italy, or France.

If you want to go soemwhere really exotic try StMartin, Guadaloupe or the French Pacific Islands.. after all by some bizzaire state of affaris they to are regarded as part of Europe

Germany... the Christmas Markets are great!

Ms. Twissta
Well I guess you dont wann hear my suggestion cause I was gonna say I dont know, I just wanna wish you good luck on your trip, wish I could go

Katya-Zelen
Try Krakow in Poland or Tallinn in Estonia. If you are feeling adventurous, Kiev in Ukraine is stunning.

jessieket04
Belguim, because of the christmas markets, chocolate and ease of getting there.

Other suggestions are good, you could also look into Prague in the Czech Republic. I spent a week there a couple of years ago and loved it. It's a gorgeous city and the people were just so nice.

Barcelona (in Spain) isn't bad either, but Prague was very cheap when we were there.

Italy might also be nice but I don't know what it's like at this time of year. Lots of cultural things in Florence and Rome though, if that's your thing. But plenty of people speak English in these cities.

You could go 'local', or off the beaten track and visit the city of Groningen in the north of the Netherlands (Amsterdam is just so overdone), it's a nice, friendly place. I lived there for 6 years so I'm kind of biased, but it has lots of delightful restaurants and cafes and if you're into the other side of Holland (!), that stuff is available there too. The Dutch tourist board website is www.vvv.nl . The Dutch are generally very good at languages, so you wouldn't have any problem there.

love Paris - loads to do and plenty of good hotels and restaurants.
Also, if you take the eurostar your journey begins as soon as you get on the train in London.

england til i die
why would you wanna go to europe? ever tried newquay? The locals speak some sort of broken english there too so its easier to understand. And they know wot a pound is (although they would prefer you paid with groats)

How about Lisbon?

Compact city, pretty good weather, great shopping (Centro Colombo - the biggest mall in Iberian peninsula!), a bit cheaper than Spain, great food and port wine, good access to beaches (Estoril), english widely spoken. And same time zone as UK :)

Berlin is my most favourite city in the world - and I have travelled extensively over the years. There is so much to see and do. As for the main sights, I'd say these are the highlights:
*Brandenburg Gate
*Reichstag building (house of parliament)
*Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirc... (memorial church - bombed by British in WWII)
*Schloss Charlottenburg (royal palace built for the wife of Frederick I of Prussia in the early 1700s)
*Checkpoint Charlie (former border checkpoint between East/West Berlin)
*East Side Gallery (mile-long section of the Berlin Wall which was left in place during demolition as a memorial)
*Olympia-Stadion (built for 1936 Olympics; renovated for and hosted 2006 FIFA World Cup final)
*Siegessäule (victory column commemorating German (Prussian) victory over Denmark in 1864)
*Potsdamer Platz (former border area wasteland during Cold War, now the nucleus of Berlin's entertainment and shopping facilities).
*Weltzeituhr (world clock on Alexanderplatz)
*Fernsehturm (TV Tower on Alexanderplatz)
*Rotes Rathaus (Berlin city hall)
*Haus der Kulturen der Welt
*Berlin cathedral
*Museumsinsel (museum island)
*Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp (just north of Berlin in Oranienburg - former WWII Nazi camp, now open to public as a memorial and museum)
I have stayed at many hotels in Berlin and have never been disappointed with any of them. All German hotels tend to be of a high standard. I'd recommend that you look to stay somewhere in the Mitte area of the city as it contains or is close to many of Berlin's attractions. Another good area is in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf area, particularly near to the boulevard KurfĂĽrstendamm.
For hotels in Berlin, check the following websites for the best prices:
