Lots of great places in country, but Amsterdam is the spot to be. In the city they have the Van gogh museum, where you can see some of VG's greatest paintings, also at rijkmusuem can see many great rembrants. Also there is the oude kerk, a church built in 1300's, the red light district, very open culture, royal palace, dam square, and the miles of canals.
Overall in the city it is very safe, minor pickpocket problem, but at least its not like a U.S. city where you have to worry about armed robbery.
I have walked through city at night at 4 am with just my girlfriend and probably 10,000 or more drunk men stumbling around us, and not one fight did I see, nor any crime. I dont know if its all the smoking or that men were all spent from a visit to a pro, it was odd, people were smashed and load and yelling down the street, but no one really was causing any trouble.
The street dealers will come up and bother you, if you ignore them and keep walking they will give up and leave you alone, but overall they are rather harmless compared with panhandlers in the US.
Also overall city is very well run, you will see police walking down the street, though they dont really enforce anything.
Also the city is so laid back, you can stand on street and see two cops chatting in front of a prostitute who is in a window who is showing them her parts, while seeing an old lady open the door to enter her apartment next door, all while seeing people pee into public urinal, that is placed on the street, with no doors, and people walk by like its no big deal. All very strange, and the city is even more open and backwards than you could imagine. Most things are legal, and there is no crime and overall no social problems. |

There's a lot in the Netherlands; it's a good-sized country. And it's safe. |

It truly is a beautiful place and Amsterdam has somthing for everyone, even if you are not into drugs.....It has some of the most famous art works in the Rijksmuseum and the general layout of the city is so different to anything else you may have seen, not to mention that there are no skyscrapers at all!
The countryside is very much dairy producing areas and is very flat...... very picturesque.....
Of course it is safe, but do your research before you go! |

Yes, The Netherlands is generally safe.
But, just as in any country - you need to pay attention to what you do.
What is there? Wow.. too much to mention.
Museums, sights, history, festivals, exhibitions...
What do you like, what holds your interest?
Give us some pointers ... |

in the netherlands there are lot's of things , except mountains! and it is a quite safe country, and like in all countries, be aware of pickpockets, drug-runners and don't go at night in dark streets in bad quarters. |

Ninjas around every corner, terrorists behind every door. If you are lucky enough not to slip and fall into a canal (they're all filled with molten lava, btw), good luck trying to avoid the samurai bike ninjas who fly around town and decaptitate unsuspecting tourists. |

The Netherlands has a lot of history, culture, tradition and culinary delights for the visitor. Adult pleasures are also available in Amsterdam and other cities.
Is it safe? Well...honestly its not very safe. There are a lot of migrants from North Africa and Asia who target tourists for crime. These include pick pocketing, bag snatching etc. Lose your passport in the Netherlands and you'll be living a nightmare.
However, food is excellent, the local people are wonderful and the country is breathtakingly beautiful. I love the Netherlands, though I'm from another country. |
