Dr.

What's the best place to go in Greece? e.g. Corfu, Kefalonia, Kos etc etc.?

We are a young couple wanting good restaurants, nice snorkelling beaches but not rowdy night clubs.. Just a nice chilled holiday.
Thank you..

'Er indoors!!
We discovered Kefalonia 3 years ago, and I am DESPERATE to go back, as it was gorgeous!!!!
We stayed in a small resort called Lassi, which is only a few minutes from the Island's only airport. (but far enough not to be bothered by low flying planes ) It meant we didn't have to worry about leaving our resort, until about an hour before our flight, and when we arrived at the airport, there's only one flight at a time, so there's no messing about with luggage, and check in, as everyone's on the same flight anyway.
Also Lassi, although a very quiet little resort, is only a 5 minute taxi drive (or half an hour 's walk) away from the main City of Argostoli, where you can find night life, and lots of shopping if you wish.
We just found the whole island enchanting, and peaceful, and we had the priveledge of seeing Dolphins, and Turtles in the wild. I would highly reccommend Kefalonia. We have visited Cyprus, Cos, and Corfu, all are nice, but none beat Kefalonia.
Living in a tiny village in Cornwall, we loathe noisy brash resorts, but didn't find anything like this on Kefalonia, and added to this was the sheer convenience of travelling only 10 minutes too, and from the resort's airport. We had transfers, but could have done without them as it costs less than £1-00 to travel by taxi (can't remember the Greek equivalent)
We are going again in September, as this is the month they have their festival. They carry the body of their (dead 400 year old mummified) saint through the streets in a big silver chair. (Try and watch the film " Captain Corelli's Mandelin") as this shows the Island's beauty. Go for it, you won't regret it, and you will be back, like us!!!

Kefalonia is good - but I've heard Tilos is superb for snorkelling - not so commecialised - you fly to Rhodes and transfer by ferry to Tilos. Can be done as a package though. Every Greek Island has its quiet resorts and you will find the hospitality brilliant - I know I'm embarking on my 6th trip to Greece this year!!

Lefkada is lovely - incredible beaches!

Santorini is great for snorkeling as the beach at Kamari has very deep fissures just off the beach. I have seen big fish and even been lifted out of the water once, quite scary, I thought it was another snorkeler but there was no one near me at the time.

I have not been to Corfu or Kos, so I can't speak for those islands, but I've been to KEFALONIA, and had a wonderful time. You will love it! Don't forget to go see Agios Gerasimos.

Ioanian islands are the best place to visit. The Ionian coastal line has been named as one of the best in Europe(espiacially in Sivota, Lefkada and Zakynthos)

I would steer clear of corfu kos etc unless you pick a quiet resort but kefalonia is lovely we went to Lassi which has lovely beaches. it is very touristy to be honest as its a resort which has built up solely from tourism rather than an orginal village but still very nice.
have you considered cyprus thats really nice and the beaches are great.
if you really want chilled try mainland greece and halkadiki, its three penisulas Athos being the quiestest with great beaches and really calm clear waters for snorkelling.
