Iskender kebap, and midye.
I like kumpir, too.
But when you know some very basic turkish, the dishes names can be strange, sometimes ...
so, something çorbası must be soup, even if you don't understand the vegetable name. So, foreigners will suppose that "koç yumurtaları" will be something like "omelette" ... When they see what it looks like, they wonder what sort of bird "koç" can be ....
We also suppose that (i don't remember who) beğendi must be really good, but why did the imam bayıldı ? Because it was good ? Or really bad ? or .... whatever ? |
