Check the websites below for more details and to be sure the regulations have not changed.

* NO You cannot bring liquids or gels on board. This includes bottles of water, drinks, shampoo, toothpaste. BUT, you can put the toiletries in your checked luggage.
* YES You can bring lip balm on board, also solid deodorant, soaps, eye drops (up to 4 oz.).
* YES You can bring sandwiches and some food items on board. NO Yogurt, pudding, soft cheese, etc.
* YES Electronics can be brought on board (computers, cell phones, iPods, noise canceling headphones, etc.)
* Flights from the UK allow only one carryon bag. Flights on US Airlines from the US allow a purse/computer bag and one carryon bag.

Read the complete list from the TSA (US).
Read the complete list from British Airways (UK). This PDF file tells you exactly which items can be brought on board if flying from a United Kingdom airport.

Note: You must remove your shoes when going through security in the US. Read more.
What To Do

Before your flight check with your airline and on the government websites to see what the current restrictions are. This is very important; these restrictions are changing every day. See our Everything About Travel forum on the Message Board for the latest information (there are several threads about this).
Read More on the Government Websites

These government websites will give you the most current information.

* US and UK airports are restricting liquids and gels in carryon (except baby food/formula/milk/juice, prescription drugs, essential non-prescription drugs). Read more.
* UK airports are allowing one carryon bag. Your purse must go inside this bag. You can bring electronics, such as computers, cameras, etc. in your carryon. Read more.
* If you are flying British Airways from North America to the UK, they are following the same no carryon restrictions as if you were flying from the UK. British Airways Carryon Restrictions.

Check the government websites below before you leave for your flight. These restrictions will probably change in the coming days/weeks.

Nothing sharp, flammable, or chemical.

Only take what you need. Face it you won't be doing much on a plane, so to keep it nice and simple I recommend documents, deodorant, and duty free.

That way customs don't hold you up asking stupid questions as your trying to get through the gates to board.

Hope this helps.

Pretty much just clothing and shoes. NO LIQUIDS. That means no hairspray or even lipgloss. Also no nail files or lighters. However, if you do have liquids such as hairspray in your carry on you can just check the bag in. It takes some more time at the airport, but at least you don't have to buy toothpaste and hair products all over again when you get to your destination.

pass port?

lizzie
you are not allowed any cosmetics or liquids

check the website of the airline you are using, they might have info on there

Just come back from Cyprus so depending on airport you fly from this is what I was told.
No sharp objects
No lighter
No liquids what so ever so that means no perfume either.
All I had in my hand luggage was purse, documents, house keys, ciggies(sorry smoker here) a book for the flight and that was it. Once at airport bag was searched and scanned also had to take off shoes and belt before going through.
Airport duty free having a feild day with people buying all sorts but better to be safe than sorry in this day and age.
Have a fab holiday

Anything other than weapons, liquid, or material that looks suspicious. You can't have pocket knives, metal nail filers, etc. And I think the weight limit is 50 lbs. or whatever can fit in the overhead storage compartments.

katehughes2706
You need to visit the website of the airport you are flying from as some are on more high risk alert than others.

It's more to do with what you can't take.

Have a look at the webpage listed below.

Check with the actual airport itself. My husband recently went to Switzerland from the UK and found the information he needed on the airport website. He was able to take handluggage up to the size of 'a small laptop bag' but it may vary from county/airport. Happy travels tho!

When I flew to Cyprus recently I used the home office website to check what I was allowed to take.

Hand luggage restrictions
Passengers are allowed to carry one item of cabin baggage through the airport security search point.
These lists include:
No liquids
No liquids of any type are permitted through the airport security search point, other than the following items:
prescription medicines in liquid form sufficient and essential for the flight (eg, diabetic kit), as long as verified as authentic
baby milk and liquid baby food (the contents of each bottle or jar must be tasted by the accompanying passenger)
The definition of liquids includes:

gels
pastes
lotions
liquid/solid mixtures
the contents of pressurised containers, eg. toothpaste, hair gel, drinks, soups, syrups, perfume, deodorant, shaving foam, aerosols etc.
To help their progress through search points, passengers are encouraged not to include items capable of containing liquids (eg, bottles, flasks, tubes, cans, plastic containers, etc) in their cabin baggage.

You can take your laptop, mobile, digital camera etc.
NO
Sharp objects
Liquids
Keys
No shaving stuff
No baby stuff except for one nappy and milk - you have to taste the milk
If you are taking medicines on the plane, you might be asked to taste those as well.
Any reading books, magazines etc must be passed through the scanner.

The size of the bag must be specific as well. i.e. laptop bag!

You can book whatever you want though.

Hope this helps man. Enjoy your trip.

Need to say where you are flying from and where you are flying to and check with the airline website and the airports

The::Mega
Changes daily... anything sharp or anything that can cut... loose the makeup, pens, pencils, call the airport or try your airlines website and contact them

Go on line and check with the airline you are using - each one is a little different. Rule of thumb - no liquids (water, soap, shampoo, hair gel, etc...), no unlabelled meds, nothing sharp (nail files, pocket knives, etc..)
