What are important to Greece and Greeks?

Additional Details
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, t he sand filled up everything else He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two glasses of wine from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand.
The students laughed.

First and foremost is health, family, friends, my job.
For Greece I'd say the important thing is to preserve the country the best we can and give it to our children better than we got it.
Preserve our forests, sea, ancient monumets. Maintain our borders and fight if needed for the land of our ancestors.

And if I am in the fork of the road, never mind the mayo jar, I'll remember to take the 2 glasses of wine :)

I don't know about other Greeks. This is what is important to me:
God,
health, family, love, friends, my godson,
music, dance, the sea, travelling,
my job

I've learned that love and kindness is HUGE. Honor, freedom.

Eastern families are naturally closer for some reason (Greece, Turkey, Italy ...) so family is a given but those are the big ones love, love, love and kindness and loyalty.

Like most Greeks, I juggle things around. I might stuuf the jar with golfballs, then take a couple out for pebbles and sand. then take those out and put in a golf ball again. Then empty the whole d@mn thing out, and fill it with wine. Then stuff it with sand, then come to my senses and start with the golfballs again, then empty it and fill it with wine, etc...etc...

I am only half Greek but one thing is for sure. There is huge gap between the wishes of the state and the wishes of the people. The Greeks think sideways and trying to get a result by any means necessary, even the illegal ones. In the end the Greeks are egomaniacs and very erotic.
There is no place like Greece.

Being Seen as Wealthy, Cool etc. Modesty is not a common word here in Athens. Our Greek maid comes dressed like she's going to the Opera, changes into her grubbies to do the work in our house, and then changes back into Opera clothes.

I always kid her about that and I tell her to just be herself. She doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. You don't need to wear fancy clothes, and tell the world "look at me, look at me".

Material wealth, shallowness, and pretentiousness could win an award in Greece for the things Greeks aspire to be.

I'll always remember one time in my grubby sweats and t-shirt I was thought to be a Romanian immigrant. I told this Greek, "I'm American and I dress like this because I CAN, not because I'm some poor immigrant". He just couldn't fathom how some American with a decent income could dress like a bum and feel good about it. Confidence comes from within my Greek friends..
